Didn't like their D-zone work from the get go. Up 2-0 with Montreal outshot 16-4 at that point, just play smart low risk hockey. Giordano, usually a safe D-man, decides to pinch in looking for more offence. Why risk it while up against an weaker team? He compounds his mistake by never looking left one time, while skating back & that allows Anderson to skate in all alone for a clean look & he scores. Bad decision & poor awareness on his back-check. The goal gives MontreaI oxygen & they found their legs. A sub-par effort, except for Samsonov. Montembeault was outstanding facing 38 shots & the primary reason it even got to OT.
Matt’s and JT, that OT loss was on you guys, not trying to be a jerk but Matt’s was floating in neutral ice while pitlick was wheeling…., Matt’s should have recognized that and back checked him or go for a change if you’re gassed, but you can’t give pitlick that much time and space buddy…. JT, you got caught flat-footed in the defensive zone, you should’ve started skating backwards earlier as soon as you saw him rushing towards you you should’ve matched his speed backwards even if your paths intersect like 2 feet in front of the net it’s still better than him beating you and getting around you for a hard shot on net…. Take pitlick to the blue paint in that situation buddy there no other option….. Yeah, both you guys looked

Not sure what’s going on with Matthews but he totally is not engaged this season. Sure he’s still scoring but look at last nights OT for example, that was prime lazy Willy style that I seen out of Matthews. Willy however has taken his game to the next level.

Disgraceful. Montreal ALWAYS plays more aggressive and determined than Toronto. No matter how depleted their lineup. The number of times their players went to the net and knocked down Samsonov was a disgrace to Toronto. The Leafs should be ashamed of themselves. I think I counted only one bodycheck by Toronto. The Leafs have no balls, especially against Montreal. We saw tonight a vintage Kyle Doofus team against a young, more aggressive but injury depleted team. Imagine Tampa Bay with their muscle and talent. I cannot wait for the Kyle Doofus era to be over. Montreal brings us one step closer. Thank you Habs and bravo.
PS One more point. These Leafs are an extremely pathological team. Making the same mistakes over and over again. They never learn. Combine that with a lack of character and aggressiveness and I don't care how much talent you have… you will never win.
Leafs did what they always do against bottom feeders. The top guys took the night off, the bottom 6 were better than the top 6. The team hung Sammy out to dry and he was pissed..
Samsonov is amazing, we love the leafs and he’s definitely one of the best goalies out there! It’s just a matter of time for the leafs to win the Stanley cup ❤
