  1. Wonder how long Tocchet’s contract is for…

  2. Luke-A-Loo

If anyone needed an example as to why workplaces give zero notice when laying off employees, this is a good one.

  3. Japandabear1

Some of you might be too young to remember but this is worse than the Mike Keenan and Messier disaster that happened.

  4. JohnBubbaloo

Long-time Oilers fan coming in peace.

And as a long time Oilers fan, please do not take this comment lightly – the Vancouver Canucks’ ownership and front office is an abomination.

  5. DonutCop1967

Joke front office. I feel bad for you guys. Rutherford is a complete pigeon.

  6. DoughnutTrust

Ok so thoughts on Foote and Gonchar as assistants? I liked them as players, but I have no idea what their reputation is as coaches.

  7. Feel for BB last night, behind the bench with tears in his eyes as the crowd cheered for him after the game

  8. CrazyBoDevola

Canucks either didn’t listen to their PR person or need a new PR person

  9. westcoastmetal

Canucks will win some games and the media and fans will be distracted and the clown show will continue.

  10. Rodlofton53

    Seriously, fuck this team.

I mean, I’m still gonna buy their jerseys and follow them without question…..

But seriously, this management needs to be re-evaluated or shot.

  11. Yacht_rock_rudder

Everybody needs to stop being so reactionary .. this is on aqua who, always thinking he knows best, went on a pin the tail on the donkey style reactionary coaching hunt and hired the guy he blindly stuck his tiny prick onto. Aqua IS the donkey and I’m pinning this on HIM! Rutherford wouldn’t have hired boudreau so his hands are tied, his public protests are mainly about this IMHO. From here on in, though, it’s all on Rutherford.

  12. Thank you Bruce! Fuck this ownership and management group! Shit like this is going to make players not want to play here.

  13. vancouversportsbro

This feels as low as things did during the Keenan era. Just a disgrace. Owner has no shame

  14. William13975468

Dumpster fire of an organization. To hell with ‘em.

  15. Denace86

On the bright side Trent cull is a no longer in this organization

  16. ActionOk8053

don’t go to games, and don’t buy the merch. only way with this ownership

  17. HunterAntoski

Let’s just remember that although most of us didn’t agree with how things were handled, Tocchet isn’t to blame. Let’s not take our anger about Bruce’s treatment out on him. Let him earn our trust or not, on his own merits.

  18. canuckleheadfan

A fine coach and a fine gentleman has been treated disgracefully by a bunch of people who obviously have no class.

  19. TheLostLantern

I hear that the Canucks are already searching for Tocchets replacement after they fire win in the next year

  20. Can we now start the process of firing the owner?

  21. hangoverpho

Bruce is still top trending on Twitter! Spread the news!

  22. Acceptable-Fold-3192

Helluva mid 90’s all star team of coaches 😂

  23. dongyang560

Cancelled my plans to ferry to Vancouver spend the night and go to the game later in February.

I’m doing my part. Yall do yalls.

  24. E_712064

TNT studio show will be in shambles now. Tocchet was the glue. A true Black Ace.

  25. whiteajah365

We should all start wearing Kraken gear to games

  26. HighburyOnStrand

I don’t know whether this was the right decision from a performance standpoint.

I do know that this was a debacle from a public relations and human resources perspective.

  27. now that it’s really official my heart sank 😭

  28. Since it’s been reported that Tocchet’s contract runs for the remainder of this year and the next two full seasons. That’s basically the average shelf life of a Canucks’ head coach

This is the Canucks’ 52nd season and they’re now on their 21st head coach. That’s a new head coach every like 2.5 seasons. It’s actually kind of scary how quickly they speed run through coaches

  29. hangoverpho

Rick looks like Dr. Evil’s older brother

  30. Slight_Interest_9400

Problem is I don’t want to see a coach bump. Worst thing would be to fall to get a pick in the 10 ish range

So I will start this post by saying that both people in the video are Canucks fans. Canucks are my second favorite team and the other guys favorite team. I say this because I don’t want Canucks fans to feel like I am punching down on them, but more that we are expressing the frustration of the overall fanbase.

We started the video on a light note, discussing how good Boudreau was for the Canucks and how much fans loved him. He had a 32-15-10 record to end the season last year. His overall record with the Canucks was 50-40-13 record in 103 games. When most coaches get fired, the fans agree with the decision or even demand the change. However, in Bruce’s situation the fans understood it wasn’t his fault and even chanted “Bruce there it is” last night. I think this shows two things: One that Bruce is a good coach and fans know it. Two, the team and management are so messed up that fans know this band-aid coaching change won’t do anything. I just hope Bruce signs with a good team and ends his amazing coaching career right. It isn’t fair for his career to end like this.

We then discussed how bad the management has been. This was basically just bashing at them for a good 5 minutes for how poorly they handled the firing. It was borderline cruel what they did to Bruce. They should have fired him and placed an intern instead of keeping him hanging. The handling of this situation might also affect future free agents and coaches, why would anyone want to come to Vancouver when they treat their staff/players like this?

Lastly we discussed what we thought Rick Tocchet would bring to the Canucks. I absolutely hate this decision of signing a new coach in a season where you should be tanking. Tocchet will probably fire the team up for 10-20ish games and this will lead to the Canucks not making the playoffs and getting a bad pick. I would have much rather preferred them put an intern in for this season and tank. This signing just speaks to the sense of indirection in the Canucks organization.

That was our breakdown of the Canucks coaching situation. If you enjoyed it, give our video a watch, the link is below. If you don’t feel like watching the video, leave a comment in this post on our opinions.

At this rate, I don’t think Bedard wants to play for Canucks anymore.. what a shit show

  33. Largebargecharge

Got an owner that beats his children and exploits workers, and a convicted felon head coach

  34. richard_glutes

Are Foote and Gonchar player-coaches? They should shore up our back end well.

  35. bad_biologist

Fuck the leadership. I love this team. I’ll stand by our players, despite the shitty contracts they have. But the ownership and leadership team is trash. Same old same old.

  36. New coaches can’t possibly make our PK worse can they?
