GAME RECAP: Penguins at Devils (01.22.23) | Crosby Scores One-Timer

The Pittsburgh Penguins were hosted by the New Jersey Devils Sunday afternoon. Less than a minute into the game, Devils forward Jack Hughes struck first. Minutes later, the Penguins Caption Sydney Crosby ripped a one-timer from the blue line and tied the game at 1 each to end the 1st period. The 2nd would be a quiet period with no goals. The Penguins would dominate the second half of that period, keeping the Devils to only two shots on net. They took that momentum right into the 3rd period. The back-and-forth play started the 3rd period without a whistle for the first seven minutes. But, for the third time in four games, the Penguins went into overtime. On a 2-on-1, the Penguins would score, but the referees quickly called off the goal and assessed a too many men penalty to the Penguins. The Devils took advantage of this opportunity, with Dougie Hamilton ending the game in overtime on the power play, 2-1.

  1. I still hope for playoffs but I think deadline if keep looking out by lots of points sell at deadline trade player s know aren’t returning zucker teddy Danton maybe dumo and jarry get something in return I am will always cherish and be grateful for the memories and we should be grateful 3 cups won 4 cup finals 4 playoffs series vs the caps and 4 vs flyers 5 east Eastern conference finals. Don’t forget we had lots of winter classics and stadium series games it will strange no playoffs first time as pens fan but I am happy what did

  2. If there was a trophy for choking we’d have a real shot at winning something. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  3. I thought we would lose happy that we got that ot point. It's the games like away in Ottawa we can't be losing.

  4. Opportunity after Opportunity…Pens don't take advantage and lose yet ANOTHER OT game. Another slow start….and another game costing penalty. I think this game tells us exactly how far the Pens will go this season. A truly great effort on the road but in the end…the same disappointing results. Clock is ticking.

  5. A younger, faster team vs. an older, slower team… it could've been a blowout. At this stage, I'll take the point and cross my fingers as the trade deadline approaches.

  6. Can't have all the points come from top 2 lines and not much help from defense. They get so many shots blocked, at least Ty Smith shows some offensive skill compared to the rest of our guys

  7. I was at this game, and the disallowed goal that led to the penalty in ot was a terrible call

  8. Of course , another OT loss . That's not how you make the Playoffs . Can't the Pens win in regulation ?

  9. I do not enjoy how pessimistic the Pens fanbase is but unfortunately thats how it goes. We had a tight game with opportunities, including the moment in overtime where Pettersson knowingly stepped on the ice before someone could hop back on the bench and got it past the goaltender without another tally. A penalty in overtime always hurts but we fought well, hard enough to atleast get a point from the game. Looking forward to the Panthers.
