I shed some tears and may or may not have listened to “Like a Stone” by Audioslave multiple times on this day 2 years ago.
TWO years ago already… wow. I remember I got a super cheap Laine jersey from Sportchek right after this lol. I’ll miss Patty. I got to be at his first game. Will never forget Staz and the young guns in the 2018 playoff run. Such a fun time. He certainly made hockey way more fun here in his time here.
Said it then and stand by it now:
Laine is an overrated player who can’t drive a line and this trade will end up being a win for the Jets
good hockey trade. Trading another Finnish star in Winnipeg was not an easy decision but even in the simulations I don’t think you could write up a better conclusion to the Laine story. We really lucked out with the Dubois/CBJ drama happening at the same time.
After struggling in Columbus and a boat anchor for a contract I wonder what Laine’s trade value is now?
My brain saw trade alert, winnipeg, and roslovic before the rest of my brain kicked in.
Loved watching Laine most of the time. When he was on he was on. I was hoping he’d dethrone a few more kovalchuk records in his rookie year, but oh well.
Deep down, though, I really do wonder about the Mccabe hit. I know there’s not much discussed about lasting impact, but I can’t help but wonder if he’s been the same since then.
Wasn’t a huge fan of this trade at the time, but PLD is really finding a good spot here and Laine just cannot stay healthy so I feel like this trade worked out.
I’ve swung back and forth on this trade since it happened. Ultimately, as much as I’ll forever love Laine, we win this trade. Chevy made a difficult but necessary decision to move on from Laine when he did. Dubois looks like an absolute steal rn
Anyone who thinks the Jets didn’t win this trade at this point are just lying to themselves. Dubois is the far superior player and the kinda guy that you win a cup with
I remember other fanbases laughing and saying Winnipeg is a shithole.
I was really sad when this trade happened… but now I absolutely adore Dubie and will be gutted if he doesn’t resign with us.

I’ll never forget watching Patty score a hat trick in Vancouver against the Canucks. PLD has been an absolute menace for us tho!
I still get annoyed by the way Laine was handled in Winnipeg as a draft and develop team regardless of how much he deserved.. didn’t lead to any cups during his time off top line so it pisses me off.
However I was def stoked to get PLD in return since it’s what we needed at the time and paying massive dividends this season and hopefully going forward for a long long time.
I will admit, I was pretty angry about this trade at the time. Thankfully, time has proven me to be wrong.
