If an NHL team tanks – the last team still has a 25% chance of drafting the top pick. Many teams have a 0 % chance of drafting the #1 pick. If you can’t win the Stanley Cup – why not tank for the #1 pick? Winning is everything!

What about verhagee? Let’s say FLA are 10 pts out of a playoff spot by the deadline behind a couple teams. I know verhagee is a key piece but could he be available. He would be such a good fit. Id think asking price is a first + prospect or someone ready to play right now. High asking price since he still has 2 more years after this year. Also, divisional trade so a lot of questions but man verhagee would be solid at 4.1

I guess it isn't that surprising to see Keefe go back to Marner/Matthews. Nylander has had a couple of games where he just couldn't handle the other team's top line and got caved in. The question is, can what has always failed succeed this time? It will make the 2LW search harder too because players who pair up well with Nylander aren't really what Tavares needs.
Anderson. What a wasted opportunity. Dubas could have traded Johnsson and Dermott for Weegar and in an interview after he passed on that steal of a deal Dubas came out and said that they really liked Joey Anderson. Not sure how a top pair NHL Dman is worth less than an AHL NHL tweener but Anderson certainly isn't bringing back half of Weegar in value.
Holl gets a lot of heat for the pinches, but it is pretty clear that Keefe wants his Dmen to go down low to maintain puck possession. The problem is not all the forwards drop back to defend.
Home ice. It isn't so much that home ice is an advantage for the Leafs. Keefe doesn't seem to take advantage of it. But they must keep it away from Tampa because Cooper will use it too his advantage.
Buchnevich is a great choice. Knies plus is fair. I like him more than ROR. As long as he is gonna be able to play because the Leafs need a guy who is 100% this year.
Timmins, great offense, his defensive game is brutal. A million or less. Sure.
