Felger: 'Means something' to fans, players if Bruins knock off Canadiens for all-time best record

The Boston Bruins are currently on pace to break the 1977 Montreal Canadiens’ NHL record for most points in a regular season. Mike Felger and Michael Holley debate on Boston Sports Tonight if the B’s should go for it and if it matters to fans and players, especially if it puts the chance of winning the Stanley Cup at risk.

  1. It means that the mental toughness is there for a cup run !!! So the record would be great. BTW the 29-30 Bruins hold the statistical record for wins vs losses in a season 38-5-1, Montreal's #2 @38-5-7.

  2. WE WANT THE CUP!!! If we get the regular season record to knock the Habs off another perch, that would be the cherry on top but WE WANT THE CUP!!!!

  3. Yes go for the record take that momentum into the playoffs knock off teams in 6 or 7 in the 1st and 2nd rounds and get plenty of rest for the last rounds.

  4. I want it all. The record and the cup. The team is deep enough that if they can clinch home ice early then can rest players and still win meaningless games.
Btw the last game of the regular season is vs Montreal…

  5. Win it all .. this group Wants this, they want it all n they may just be great enough to deliver.

  6. The best regular season record for the season or the new record means nothing unless you win the cup.

  7. This team is outpacing the best of the modern era. If they keep it up AND win the cup then they are the undisputed best of all time

  8. Nope, points mean nothing with a playoff fail. 2019 lightning… No one cares because they LOST.
In '07 the Patriots went 18-1… Doesn't matter, because that 1 is what counts.
Look at the '11 Canucks.. phenomenal team. Absolutely destroying the season's opponents, with hits and goals.. means nothing because they lost game 7 in the finals.
We want the cup. That's all. Records are nice, and definitely a great achievement… But without the cup it's just hollow.

  9. My opinion The 1977 Canadiens would outclass hockey in 2023. Where you get a shootout point . Everyone wins a prize everyone gets a point these days. I'll take hockey circa 1970s 1980s over today any day. Even if players today have better nutrition and conditioning. 1970s-80s my preferred era. And with less teams many players in the league today would be in the minors then.
