I hope so, they have screwed up the Jackets television experience for fans pretty bad. They won’t cut any deals with streaming services, so I can’t watch them without paying them $20/month for their app because I don’t think I can even get traditional cable in my apartment complex now. I have AT&T only in my complex, and they’re steering everyone to their streaming service. So I broke down and paid the $20/month, then realized they don’t have an app that’s available on my TV, and I’d have to get Roku or something like that. So for a while I just watched via my laptap hooked to my TV. But for that trouble, fuck em, I just started using a VPN and watching on ESPN+.
Also they’re owned by Sinclair Media, and fuck Sinclair for a whole bunch of reasons. They lost their ass buying Fox Sports and I’m glad.

I’d like to celebrate if that’s the case but then I think of what other monstrosity will come and buy the tv rights to the Jackets.. Maybe something better comes along but I’m a big believer in Murphy’s Law..

Please let me pay like $200 a year or something to watch all NHL games without blackouts on any device without being affiliated with Sinclair or some other excessively evil company. Bonus points if you throw in some minor league or international games.
I’m so tired of the ancient idea that being able to easily watch games on TV makes me less likely to occasionally buy a ticket. It’s the complete opposite.

For all the obvious reasons, this makes me happy, though the app has been getting much better.
I just hope the broadcast team are under contracts that persist through new ownership, or however this shakes out.

I switched TV providers twice and each time Bally was removed shortly after. I just stopped watching the Jackets all together for the last 2 seasons and only catch a game every so often at NWA. I hope Bally goes bankrupt. Fuck them.
