I’m from Moorhead MN, the hometown of retired Lightning player Brian Lee (and other NHL players including Matt Cullen, Jason Blake, Chris VandeVelde, and a few others. Also Will Borgen who’s currently playing for the Seattle Kraken). He coached a summer hockey camp when I was younger and took questions at the very end of it. When he was asked who the best player he had ever played with or against, his answer was, without hesitation, Steven Stamkos; then elaborated on how fun it was playing with somebody that good all around. He really is something special.
As a life-long Bolts fan, I can confidently state that Stammer is the greatest Lightning player of all-time. He has represented our franchise with humility, grace, and excellence (on-and-off the ice). A lot of pride to see the Captain hit 500! Great time to take a step back and appreciate how special this group of guys has been over the last 5+ years, with Stammer and Heddy laying the foundation of leadership for the entire team.
If Stamkos plays in Canada or any Big US city……his remarkable career & comeback from devastating injuries would be better known. The guy is legendary. He’s a prototypical Canadian Captain. Stamkos inspires TB, in every way. He scores, he plays defensively, he checks & fights.

Stamkos really said not to sleep on him by scoring goal no. 500 and getting a hat trick in a game that started at 10:00pm EST. I'm so happy for him.
