  1. I never know what Calgary is going to do this year, and that's going to include the playoffs. When Shannon likes their chances, I seem to hear some ominous music start up in the distance.

  2. Calgary may surprise people. They lost their two key weapons and the team is still retooling from that. The chemistry is starting to come around and their record is starting to reflect that. The Flames may hit their stride just in time for the playoffs.

  3. Hopefully Calgary will get in. Another “Battle of Alberta” would be fun to watch.

  4. Yah Shannon, I generally agree with you. I think they will make the playoffs but their inconsistent gameplay could make them an early playoff exit. We shall see. I'll keep hopeful. On a positive note, the 2003-04 D. Sutter coached Flames that made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in '04 were only 25-18 (54 pts) after 50 games which is 3 pts less than this year's team. They did not really start playing well until the last 19 games of the season, so maybe they will be "late bloomers" again like they were in '04. Anyway, Go Flames.

  5. lol!! 83% odds??? Is that moneypuck again?? Barely down from 93% a few weeks ago! Brutal team. ALREADY outside the playoffs, and I just can't see them making it in. Markstrom is the most overpaid and underperforming starting goalie in the league. SEVEN first shot goals. Must be an NHL record.

  6. Even with the drop off in scoring from the changes in the off season, Calgary has 11 players with 20 or more points. I saw a stat last game that place the Flames second in the league in this regard. I think this spread out scoring bodes well for the stretch run to make the play-offs.

  7. I'm a big Flames fan, and I'd be pumped if the Flames made it to the playoffs. Go Flames Go!

  8. flames have been frustrating to watch this season. But it was expected with Johnny and Tkachuck leaving. Hope we can make the playoffs

  9. Reason why the moneypuck model likes us is our advanced stats have been really solid all year and easy remaining schedule( yes the flames have struggled with ‘easy’ teams so far so no guarantees.) flames have been top 10 in xG% all year and have dominated lots of teams while inexplicably losing. underwhelming finishing and goaltending is why we arent currently higher in the standings, if these turn around we’re good. Spot on about triliving , he will evaluate if the team is worthy of being buyers, if not he will sit on this roster

  10. The problematic scenario for Calgary is they won’t get in as a wildcard if the Central has 4 teams making it. I can’t see the Wild and the Av’s both falling off. Vladar is the type to steal games.

  11. I think if they can get some sort of a long streak going and if Vegas and LA continue to sputter, then yeah they will probably make playoffs. It will be very hard for them to make any hay because Edmonton and Seattle are playing very well especially lately. As for Wild Card teams, Colorado has really turned it on lately. It’ll be a tough test for Calgary regardless.
