Do the canes ever Don those jerseys or is that heresy

  2. Mike Liut on the whalers was the pinnacle of hockey for me. 😀

  3. oni_Tensa

I really hope the canes make a RR with this jersey in black and red

  4. mightysimi

I mean Hartford… The whale…. They only beat Vancouver maybe once and twice in a lifetime

  5. TheLootGoose

Bring back good AHL teams to Binghamton. We miss the Binghamton Whalers

  6. IsstvanIII

Wish I could find my old jersey, what a beaut

  7. Hufflepuff_Baseball

The lighting + black uniforms makes them look like Mighty Ducks villains

  8. Breakfasts come and go, Rene, but Hartford, “the Whale,” they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.

  9. Remember those unis from play EA Sports NHL way back when

  10. ratboy_r97

I don’t know why, on a quick glance I thought this was the LA Kings.

  11. I’m embarrassed to say I just now noticed the H in their logo…this whole time I saw the W and the tail but wow the H was lost on me.

Pat Verbeek with the ‘C’. He scored a ton of goals for the Devils but we only remember him for punching Brian Leetch in the face. Fucking legend.

I see a young Chris Pronger in the middle. Zarley Zalapski next to him. Geoff Sanderson a couple more guys down from there. Sean Burke in the white pads, Frank Pietrangelo in the dark pads. Pat Verbeek with the “C”

First NHL game my Dad ever took me to was Whalers vs Leafs at Maple Leaf Gardens.

  15. Fair_Benefit_1534

Grandfather was their stadium manager through the mid 80’s!

  16. kayesoob

My dad once went to Hartford for a business trip…he brought us all back souvenirs. The only thing that survived the years was the tiny Hartford Whaler child sized mug.

WHAlers the WHA represents the old hockey league they came from that were absorbed into the NHL

At the time people just considered the Whalers a joke poverty franchise; fans would bring signs to the game that said “At least we’re not last” once the Senators came into their division.

Longing makes the heart grow fonder so we remember the Whalers now with a hefty twinge of nostalgia, especially those my age who were kids just getting into the sport in the early 90s. Whereas the Jets returned, and we could very well see a revival of the Nordiques one day, the Whalers are never coming back in a million years.

I have one of these navy blue jerseys, and it could quite possibly be my favorite jersey of all time.

The *one* time my birth state had a professional team and they relocated them.

Great logo and colours!! All time.

    Pat Verbeek!

  21. JugularJack7

Wish they didn’t make their uniforms so drab in 1992-1993. Not sure why…guess it was the 90s and everything had to be darker

  22. seattlesportsguy

One of the all time iconic logos in all of sports imo

  23. ThePrince_OfWhales

    Always loved those unis.

Given my username and flair, why do I feel the constant draw towards oceanic creatures?

  24. AliceP00per

Crazy to think they’ve been in Carolina longer than they where in Hartford at this point

  25. DanTreview

One of the coolest sweaters in the league, ever.

  26. UncleRicosWig

The former team that i miss. Them and the Nordiques…

  27. strayslacker

What are the odds I’m the only person in the world with a Bobby Holik Whalers jersey? Probably good odds right?

  28. fluffheaaaaad

Had this picture in my room growing up

  29. Went to their second-to-last game. Think it was against Buffalo. Won it with a third-period goal. The fans left the game chanting “PRIMEAU!”.
