Cant hand out the C till the trade deadline completes
Vancouver hockey experts at it again
Raty is not a winger… he’s a centre.
Ekland Larson is not goin anywhere for 4 or 5 years put him as captain might square up is play
Patrick smoked some of that good BC bud.
The Canucks got 3 pieces, including a 1st round pick. That's what you want for a player of Bo's calibre. Obviously we can argue all day long about the foolishness of resigning Miller that that stupid contract that necessitated this move in the first place, but now that we're here, it's about what I expected. I had hoped they'd get a young defensive prospect and that the pick wouldn't be Top 13 protected this year, especially since the Canucks are retaining salary. But overall, I don't know what else people were expecting. There might have been an offer within the conference or the division that was a little better, but Bo is probably going to at least be a very effective player for another 4, 5, 6 years barring injury or a sudden downturn, so it's probably not a good idea to do that deal. There's risk to every trade and every draft pick. Looking at what they got, I would have liked a cheaper option over Beauvillier, but he's a good player who plays hard and as evidenced by the salary retention, they were going to need to take a decent contract back to make the money work under the Cap. Nobody has cap space. That's understandable. A lot of fans don't seem to get that. They think teams are loaded with cap space and are just lining up to take Myers, Miller, Pearson and OEL off the Canucks' hands for high picks and top prospects and it's just easy for GMs to make deals if they want to tank. This isn't 2004. It's not even 2019. Salaries for good players are rising rapidly and the cap is staying the same, so this was going to happen sooner rather than later. I think if the Canucks could have dumped $10-15 million of their overpaid cap money, I'm pretty sure Rutherford would have at least pitched that to Aquilini and then tried already. The cap just isn't there. I take more issue with the Canucks lack of professionalism lately which scares away potential UFAs and makes it less likely to keep players they want for a reasonable amount than I do the lack of trades. If they're not there, there's not much you can do. Some teams might want to bring in Myers as depth for a reasonable return, but they just can't do it under the cap.
The longer I watch the dumber he sounds
Hey at least Trader Jim didnt do what Benning would have done which is run out of time and have him walk to free agency for nothing andéor sign him Jt and Boeser for 8×10. After 8 years of the 32nd best General management in the NHL, this Canucks org just needs more time with regular old league average Management to see some light out of the maze.
Bow is a hell of a player but return is as good. Anthony wil be 50 plus point winger with EP, Aatu 3rd line centre will be 30 plus point a year. Draft could be D on right side it's all good. Two more trades like this we could be like LA.
I like the trade. I still don't understand why Canucks management didn't allow Horvat's agent to be involved.
I would take the 13th pick in this year's draft vs an unprotected pick in 2024…what are the chances the Islanders do worse next year …given they will likely resign Horvat.
I can't believe how negative the media has been about Raty. Just listen to what people who cover the Islanders say, and others in the East as well. Drance actually said that "a scout" told him that Raty "doesn't have a high IQ". I've since heard the opposite, that he's not flashy but very clever, and a meticulous back-checker. He doesn't turn 21 until next November, but has already looked good in very limited NHL ice time, around 9 minutes per game, by all accounts.
It always seemed evident to me that they tried hard to move Miller, but refused to take pennies on the dollar. I suspect that Miller's age, personality and the fact that it was a late breakout season cooled ardour. So, they sign Miller and the media slams them for it. If you're stuck with having to deal one of them, wouldn't you trade the player who can give you a return? In a few years, Miller's contract won't look quite so bad, and in the meantime, he is a very useful piece. I say this as a Horvat fan, always have been, but maybe management isn't as stupid as they are portrayed.
Anytime you put a core together, whether good enough or not, and then bust it up and change the core, you have a rebuild.
you are so talented
Back of my head thinks Islanders first as a sweetener to move Miller
Low ceiling/high floor. That is a "lofty" evaluation. Pun intended.
Miller freaking out is a guy that wants to win with a C on his chest he may learn to not show it out in the open where the media picks it up. there has been many captains who lead there team by calling each and every guy out on there work ethic off ice and on Bo may have been a guy to not call them out Petey and Hughes might not do that either Millermay be the next great captain to lead this team, a C may just be the answer to him changing . Messier actually grabbed guys by the throat.. not always are the nicest guys the captains around players who are making millions
Raty is not a winger.
Isn’t it best just to clean the house completely & start from fresh with a completely new core?
Trade Miller Pete is captain his teams since he's Drafted there 2017 be back in the playoffs 2028
I think Alvin has asserted that he thinks Petterson is the obvious choice to lead this team – not Miller!
Sounds like raty's problem is skating from what I've heard. Sounds like horvat when he was young so hopefully he can turn that around. Excited for this prospect. The pick is a gamble but I don't think anyone would trade a top 10 to begin with so this is probably about the best we can get so let's hope for the best. Only time will tell who wins this one.
Raty looks like a future 30 plus 70pt player. Hes got all the tools.
Patrick needs a lot of schooling. Seems out of it when I listen to him.
I head raty is a center no?
Fans wanted Miller traded.
Too bad Canucks didn’t get Salo or Wotherspoon from Long Island
JT Miller’s leadership style is like Bluto from Animal House
The Canucks are kind of like the Titanic…..but at least the Titanic had a captain.
These guys all sound so woke and progressive. Even Taylor has moved in that direction…. I guess it’s called job security to align your views the direction of your employer. I miss the old days, Al Davidson, Tony Gallagher, Neil MacCrae, David Pratt, even Botch rattled the cage pretty hard. Too bad but I guess I’m a dinosaur 😢
