Evaluating the Rangers Before The All-Star Break | Bleeding Blueshirts

The NHL is gearing up for he 2023 NHL All-Star break. Adam Fox, Artemi Panarin and Igor Shesterkin will represent the New York Rangers in the All-Star game, but before that, the New York Rangers need to take care of business on the ice.

John Giannone and Steve Valiquette look at the Rangers’ play against a tough Boston Bruins, the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Have the Rangers proven they are a Stanley Cup playoff contender?

Valliquette is excited by the play and combination of all the lines, especially after the loss to the Bruins. Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin are a top light with high expectation, but it’s the young Rangers, Alexis Lafreniere, Filip Chytil and Kaapo Kakko that are showing a lot of confidence.

The defense of Ryan Lindgren, Adam Fox, K’Andre Miller and Jacob Trouba, infront of Shesterkin, could lead the way for the Rangers in the second half of the NHL season.

  1. I think we need to put a little more stock in Gautier. He shows flashes of greatness with the limited time he gets and I wonder what his ceiling is. I'm sure I'm going to get dragged a bit for this but what would happen if you slotted him into the top six somewhere?

  2. The kid line is a no brainer. When they split them and put them with the stars they become too polite and don't want the puck as much.
The chemistry of this line was obvious in Toronto. They were dominating.
But Kreider, on the other hand, was not involved and reminded me too much of the "where is Chris" version of the years before he broke out last season.
He missed a wide open 6 by 4 on the power play, let the defenseman go free on the tying goal by the Leafs and gave the puck away in the O zone in the last minutes which led to a great scoring chance by Tavares the other way that could have won it for the Leafs in regulation.
    Did you see that?
I hope it's just a bad game but he seems softer this year and he turns the puck over a lot.

  3. Love the kid line, but don’t see it surviving trade deadline.
Rangers are missing a key piece or two, and unfortunately think Laffy may be part of a deal.
