The return for Bo was structurally what should have been expected. A young prospect who is close, a youngish roster player and a 1st round pick. It's hard to make trades under the flat cap, as evidenced by the Canucks having to retain salary. Obviously, taking on cap for this year and next wasn't ideal, but it's the nature of this unique situation. The fact that salaries are still rising while the cap has stayed the same is a bit ridiculous, but we can blame general managers for doing that. At this point, a little collusion and agreement by GMs to not overpay guys until the cap goes up wouldn't be a problem for me. You're all rich. Get over it. But we got a gritty top 9 forward who can probably slot in on Petey's line if they show chemistry, a guy who was regarded at one time as a 1st overall pick with a high ceiling and always shows signs of being NHL ready and that 1st overall. And let's assume that the Isles crash and burn with Bo and get a higher than 13th pick. That pick next year is unprotected, so if they don't get any better or they get worse, the Canucks lucked out.
Bettman: No one tanks in the NHL
Allvin and Rutherford: hold my beer
if they could get a good young right hand defenceman for one of their 1st rounders it would be the one scenario where trading a first rounder would make sense. 2 1st rounders next draft? from a pauper to a prince. i was not one that hoped horvat would go to a contender. what good is a 27-28 1st round pick?
Beauvillier is getting flipped onto a Contender, probably for a dman if they can't get another 1st rounder for him .
[I have a feeling that Tampa at 50% smells like the kinda thing]….
No one is gonna trade for Canucks' high priced players because most teams have no cap room. They are off-season moves.
Islanders don't play in Brooklyn, Mr. NHL Journalist. And yes! Let's root for injuries to Barzal and/or Sorokin!
When Demko comes back put the
C on him…..to motivate the best aspects of his personality.
But beauvillier has speed and something they have said they want is to get faster/quicker. I think they will move on boeser and garland when possible.
The way you guys are talking is ludicrous. This won't be the only trade they'll make. They'll upgrade the D, and get a defenceman. Just because they didn't get a dman for Horvat doesn't mean they won't. Why would you expect they'd get a dman for Bo?
You NEED a captain. Forget three guys wearing an A. How many teams who've won a Stanley Cup with 3 guys with As?
Canucks didn't get enough for Horvat Belleviller Bust ? First round maybe
Atu minors not till 2025 Defense is issued
Atu Raty is next Esa tikkanen
Only part of the trade I don’t like is that the 1st is protected with the islanders being where they are maybe we could’ve retained a bit and got them to wave if your islanders you wouldn’t want Bo on the opposite team in the playoff shelling them but we wouldn’t get much more for him if ya think about it expiring contract we have barley have any cap and he wasn’t signing here for less than 8.5×8 let’s just see how low we can go watch them start winning games hahahahahha good old Canucks fashion
But chytil lundquist and a 1st for Miller wasn't enough 🤦♂️ that would've been a better return and we'd still have our captain ffs
And without the cancer Miller
Horvat will wear #14 with the Isles
If this team is still floundering by the time EP40 hits UFA status, he's gone.
How dare the Canucks traded Horvat without checking with Jeff Paterson's vacation schedule!
