He might well be a Vezina winner one day but I don't see why they traded up to take him over Wallstedt. I saw an intervju with Wallstedt and he said he'd been talking to Detroit six or seven times before the draft. He and everybody els thought he was going to Redwings. Maybe management thought they already had a ridiculous amount of Swedish picks and just had to balance up with a north american? maybe the north american scouting group felt left out? Or the Detroit management team knows something we keyboard coaches don't. As of today Wallstedt is more or less NHL ready and Cossa is not even playing in AHL.
Goalies often take four or five years to come into their own. Giving up on a 20 year old in his first year of professional hockey seems a bit much to me. After he gets stronger and bigger and has more experience then it's safer to judge him.
