I don’t know how reliable this site is but no, don’t want to trade another captain away to the Leafs.

One of those comments suggests he would cost 2 1sts and 2 prospect or more. I’m no expert, but that seems like a nice haul for Boone. Idk where that lands in our timeline of competing though.

  2. HootzHootzBoy

Wouldn’t want it to happen either unless if the price is good enough. But it had to be an offer that would be stupid to not take (like 1st + matthew knies) or close to that

But this article is probably just something what would be cool and not a rumor

  3. WabashRiverNugs

I just got his jersey for Christmas šŸ™ please donā€™t go.

  4. CrazyLegLaFleur1

I think this is just Toronto stuff where they think anyone they want is available

Lol one of the comments I saw on this on Twitter was

    > it would be great for Boone to be able to win a cup

Well he probably shouldnā€™t look to the Leafs for that if they continue their yearly tradition.

Jarmo would be crazy to lose Jenner. We have him signed for several more years and he is A) our captain B) a faceoff master, and C) the only mother fucker on this team who does his job consistently. Laine isn’t scoring, Johnny isn’t at his usual points/game pace, Werenski died, Elvis left the building and then left the planet, the Goose broke his wing, etc.

Leafs trading for CBJ captain. What is this? 2021?

  8. PulsarGaming1080

For once, I genuinely don’t care what they offer.

The answer is no. Boone is ours.

  9. warlink05

Not touching the link because the answer is still no because of the following reasons:

    1. People already mentioned that he is a key piece of team with skills on the ice and such. Also he is basically the glue that holding this team together until we get out of this rebuild/retool. Trading him will create a massive void of a leadership and extend that time.
    2. If it is for trade deadline/off-season, the asking price is extremely high since he has term with a friendly cap hit for what he provides.
    3. He has an 8 team no trade clause. For players with that kind of clause, take a wild guess on which teams most players have put on their list…

  10. Feel like you absolutely do this if you get a good offer. Back injuries donā€™t miraculously heal and heā€™s got a lot of tough miles on him.

I would hate to lose Boone, but in the pragmatic world of managing the team, there are two reasons it would happen, and both have to be true to make it make sense.

Considering Boone signed a team friendly deal, I think he *has* to want to go there. Reason being you don’t want to establish that you will flip team friendly deals on a whim when a player gives you that.

Second, the return would need to be impossible to turn down. You would be giving them 3 years after this one of an absolutely excellent 3C in their system. I don’t think there is any way at all it has to be 2 firsts, a couple prospects, and probably something else. His contract IS that good, imo.

I don’t see it happening, but I thought Foligno may have been their missing piece, and he may have been if it weren’t for the Tavares injury, and his own injuries. So, it’s conceivable they need a “Boone”

~~Sure, Jenner for Point and you got a deal~~

I’m dumb as fuck. I’ll leave it, but know that I’ve downvoted myself.

  13. I’m sure they do. So does every other team who feels they’ll be a contender in the next few years. Jenner is on a phenomenal contract, produces far above it’s value, provides all of the immeasurable intangibles that make coaches froth at the mouth, he can play anywhere in the lineup and is a pure leader on top of all that. You’d have to be crazy to not want him on your team.

The issue for every other team is that he signed a 4 year extension with the Blue Jackets to be the team captain in Columbus. He didn’t sign a 4 year extension to give some other team a cheap depth player for their contention window. He wants to be in Columbus and the Jackets want him in Columbus. The late 1st round picks and fringe prospects that would be offered for him would be a foolish price for Jarmo to accept. Not only would it make the team significantly worse, it would rob all of the young players currently growing on the team of a fantastic mentor to model their work ethic after. Look at what we just saw in a meaningless game in January while this team is in last place in the league. The team’s recent 20 year old, 6th overall, skilled forward, fullout dove in front of a shot in the dying seconds of a tie game to get it to overtime and right behind him was their 19 year old 12th overall forward from the same draft. I like to think that kind of buy in is a reflection of what they’re learning from the leadership and trading that away would be so short sighted.

The Jackets have a lot of growing left to do and Jarmo is smart enough to know that so long as Boone wants to be a Blue Jacket he is the best guy he could possibly ask for to lead the group. If anyone wants to try to pry him away they better be coming with an offer only a madman would turn down.

This is the least reliable source out there. Baseless speculation. Hes not getting traded

  15. Hazy_eyePA

For 3 first round picks, sure. Boone means too much to us. Heā€™s the only guy on the team who wins 50% of his faceoffs.

  16. Boone is too integral of a piece for our future. Itā€™s an increasingly popular take in our sub that we should ship off as many veterans as we can because of the depth in this summers draft.

However, thatā€™s a horrible choice because you still need reliable vets to be around as the kids continue developing.

In the worst case scenario, if this trade did somehow materialize, Jarmo better fleece the fuck out of Dubas again and turn him into a younger Stan Bowman.

^^^that’s how I feel about this article

  18. EaglesAndCubsGoat

Iā€™m definitely not the most sentimental guy when it comes to players but I have a very hard time seeing us letting him go unless there are concerns about his health beyond this year. I think thatā€™s the only way the Jackets donā€™t value him more than other teams would he just brings things to the table that nobody else in the organization really can right now

  19. jakeyeah111

Every team in the league would want Boone at 3.75 considering heā€™d cost 6+ rn if he was a UFA

I saw twitter talking about a tv panel discussing trading him to the Sabres a couple days ago

  20. RamItDownThere

For anyone wondering how similar this situation is to Foligno; Nick was traded away when he was 33y/o, Boone is only 29.

My opinion? Boone is on a great contract and we need leadership. He also has plenty of great years ahead of him.
