There has been a lot of love for Bruce lately cause of how he was treated by the Canucks organization. But I just ground out that he was Hockey Player #7 in the move Slap Shot and I think more highly of him. Probably watch that movie tonight!

I understand that they even shot a scene in Bruce’s actual apartment.

Bruce grew up in Toronto, was drafted by the Leafs and scored his first NHL goal for Toronto against a certain goaltender named Jim Rutherford.. Randy Carlyle got the primary assist on the goal.

No, way! Bruce is in slap shot?!?! Thats wild.

  4. As mentioned by a commenter, they used Bruce’s apartment as Dunlop’s residence throughout the movie as well! Very cool

  5. being in one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, hockey movie of all time, playing for toronto, and sharing his unabashed fondness for wrestling…bruce is such a gem

Got stinkin’ shitfaced on the bus. Louise left me, and that son of a bitch over there keeps playin’ me when he knows I’m shitfaced.

Slap shot is a great movie…. I forgot Bruce was in the movie! Great guy met him in Columbus years ago…also met the Hanson brothers at a card show in Houston

He was an absolute star in the AHL as well. Cherry (I think it was Cherry) talks about him in one book and either alludes to, or comes outright and says, that Bruce may have liked to party more than he wanted to make the NHL.

That’s from the depths of a foggy memory so FWIW
