  1. I've been a Jagr fan since 1994 and I read an article in the 90s about him and he said that he wanted to retire at 35 and live the good life. Lol

  2. I think every pro athlete should play until they no longer are able to sign a contract. If you can get paid to play anything, why disrupt that. As you get older you have stay active anyway so why not get paid to exercise. Jagr doesn't have the ego that most pros have and that's how he's able to continue to play for sheer love of the game which should be every pros mentality towards the end of the career. Keep going jagr don't stop til you can't skate no more. #realitycheck

  3. I'm almost 50 and I can still do some moves, all it takes is taking care of yourself and not drinking/smoking and not eating junk food all the time and riding the exercise bike and jogging. At this age though you definitely don't want to be in at professional level anymore, look what happened to Chelios, he couldn't take a beating anymore at 45. Jagr is just an amazing athlete and still has the body to keep going with.

I think Ovechkin will be playing until he's too old, I don't even think his current listed age is accurate either (some Russian athletes are known to lie about age), he got grey hair at 35, right now he looks close to 50 but currently 37.

  4. If your worried your not going to be able to walk at 50 you might need to change your life style 😆. Eat right and exercise a little it's simple stuff.

  5. "How is Jagr doing this" Followed by a logical explanation on why he feels he needs to play. Answered your own question.

  6. As amazing as this is, it only make Gordie Howe more amazing. Gordie was 52 when he wrapped up his final season in the *NHL*. He wasn't a gimmick sideshow either … 41 points in 80 games.

  7. He's doing what he loves.
I don't know what kind of idiot thinks he needs to just stop because of his age.

  8. Between the NHL, KHL and the Czech League, Jagr has 949 goals during the regular season and 89 goals during the playoffs… 1,038 total professional goals. Only Gretzky (1,072) and Howe (1,071) have more.

  9. Pretty sure Peter Forsberg still plays too. Remember reading about him still playing in Switzerland.

  10. Really wish I got to see him play live at some point but I think this will be his last season since he almost retired to become a coach/GM before this year started. Otherwise I might try to go to a Kladno game cause I’ve always wanted to visit Prague

  11. OLD? These comments are so old. 🙄 He was essentially forced to retire from NHL at the same age as last year's selkie award winner – Patrice bergeron.

NHL is accused of racism, ableism, genderism, sexism, yet the biggest defense is "ageism."

The way they structure contracts for players over 35 years old is unfair, ridiculous and leads to instability at the end of awesome NHL Hall of Fame careers – disrespect that these players don't deserve.

We want to still go after old players? So you haven't heard of Tom Brady? Patrice bergeron just one the freaking selkie award the same age Jagr retired from the NHL?

    Learn some hockey history
    -and have some respect!

Then maybe these outstanding players will hang around long enough so you have the honor and privilege to watch them play and bring up your rookies as player-coaches on ice.

Stop driving this narrative. You'll be lucky to be looking at a face full of gray hairs and wrinkles in your mirror

If you make it that far
