Tempe Councilmember Randy Keating said that groups opposed to the arena & entertainment district proposal have been well organized & clear in their messaging to Tempe voters. Keating also has not seen a YES movement from Arena supporters.

As for the yes campaign and the Coyotes, here’s what Keating had to say:

The vote is getting closer everyday and if the public is only hearing from Arena Opposition then that is way they will likely vote IMO.
This actually worries me. If the coyotes lose this arena for themselves it will be the most coyotes thing to ever happen. No one is going to do this for them. They need to step up soon. They probably are already working on something. I just hope we see it soon
If the vote fails then that’s it. Game over. Been a fan of this team for their entire existence but I’m just done with the dog and pony show. Get it done or leave
From someone who does not live in AZ, what is the reasoning why voters don’t want the entertainment district?
Yeesh…
If Tempe doesn’t pass, what other options are there locally in the GPM?
Reservation?
Anything in Scottsdale?
I’m not a local either…
but I know West Valley, i.e., Glendale 2.0, would be a death sentence pretty much…
If this doesn’t go through, our team is relocating. Sad to say.
I own a house in North Tempe ~2 miles from the site.
I’ve heard nothing about it from the Coyotes side.
I’ve received a dozen mailers and calls against it.
Par the course for the Coyotes, their radio silence on things will be their downfall.
I feel like announcing a deal to have ASU basketball use the arena could help a lot. If they’re going that route I have no idea but it seems like it would help and fill more arena dates.
If you looked at all those slides by the opposition group or groups… none of the talking points have any detailed information and facts to back up their claims. All of it are very vague and generalized. If voters are that dumb to take their bait and believe it, they are less educated in knowing factual information and could derail the project.
