Pavs and Zs later years were wasted by a lackluster cast around them.

Often imitated but never duplicated. No player will ever match the intensity of Datsyuks game

Jesus that neutral zone tap and drag through the legs is a thing of beauty

I remember that goal when watching the game and was like what did he just do there? Had to see the replay to see that flick of the puck to move it along.

I love how he waits to shoot until the goalie is screened

That drag is just so sick. Three Boston players converging on the puck and just yoinks it away from everyone. So good.

I remember watching that at Hockeytown Cafe and we all went crazy. Frankly, I think most of us knew that we were gonna lose that series because holy hell were we outmatched that game but damn was watching that goal fun

His wrist shot never got any attention because of his stickhandling, but his release was insanely quick.

I remember at the time during Wings playoffs game, I was recording the game and watching it in the morning.
My little brother was too young to stay up for the whole games, so what we did was watch the games early the next morning. We were not checking our “Ipods” or the family laptop, so we had no idea what the score was. I remember that goal very well as we were eating pancakes in front of the TV, something we were only allowed to do on special occasions.
Fun times. I miss Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom so much.

I remember watching this at 4am or so from Japan and thinking we had a chance in this series

This goal was my favorite goal from him I remember this like it was yesterday I was so hype yelling at the TV as kid

My proudest hockey moment of my life is scoring a goal like this. Took a pass far behind me and one hand tapped it up through my skates then was on a breakaway.
I’m a goalie and this was old fart pickup so it was maybe 1/5th this speed if even. Still, knowing I did something I saw datsyuk do in a game a few years prior made me so happy.

Love how he just stops right next to the goalie for the team huddle celly.

I remember watching this goal happen while drunk at a bar in Boston – I lost my mind and everyone around me wanted to murder me.
I bought tickets to Game 2 immediately. Which we lost and Brendan Smith almost got killed by Zdeno Chara. That was interesting, to say the least.

Damn I miss having dynamic players on my team to watch. We have some good players and hopefully some future star players, but it has been a long time since we had a star player.
Mo and Raymond last year were fun to watch and hopefully they become league leaders.

My favorite drink hockey rewatches are ‘97/98 playoff run videos and datsyuk highlights 😎

we’ve all been there

Absurd awareness. He knew where everyone was on the ice before he even touched the puck
imyourtourniquet
He willed this team to the playoffs that year, the team got swept this series unfortunately. Best player I’ve gotten the chance to watch in my lifetime and I will never forget. <3
