Who knows, but this does tie in with the chatter that the Wings might be looking into picking up Schmaltz from AZ. Pretty much identical contracts, similar skill sets and roles. I haven't put much weight to that theory, but Schmaltz does makes sense as a replacement for Vrana if they really don't think his future includes a roster spot in the main line up.
i get it. we did a 1 month hockey trip in stockholm, frankfurt, vienna and prague when my son was 14. the ancient architecture and history was awesome for about 5 minutes, then the alienness set in and i was always thinking about getting back to vancouver. some folks just don't do well away from home.
A decision like this is bigger then Hockey. Its a bummer as a wings fan but if its whats best for the player so be it. Hopefully he returns the favor coming back hungry and seeking that money back with points on the board
