K this coming from a Canucks fan… The whole Cody Hodgson trade was a JOKE AND A HALF on our part, we got a SHIT player who got bumped down to the minors how many times for a player that can put up 34 points a season (that stat coming from Buffalo and their season wasn't exactly great)… Gillis and the ownership can go jump off lions gate bridge *sarcasm*, many vancouverites are angry with these STUPID decisions…

just so this is CLEAR for everyone… The Canucks traded a SOLID STARTER with a .927 save percentage FOR A DRAFT PICK on which the player still needs to develop with no certainties

that's all Hodgson was ever going to be here anyways, maybe a 3rd liner. He was never going to be the 1st or 2nd line center with Henrik and Kesler here, and I doubt he wanted to wait 10 years for them to retire.
Which perfectly leads to the next question…why draft Bo Horvat? You said it yourself then, the trade was Cory Schneider for a 3rd line center. Ouch.
because Horvat has potential to be another Kesler-type player? And by the time he's NHL ready in a few years I'm sure Kesler won't be a 2nd line player anymore, especially with his injuries.

Caps traded Varlamov to the Avs for a 1st round pick in 2012 and a conditional 2nd round pick
Kings traded Jonathan Bernier to the Leafs for Matt Frattin, Ben Scrivens and a 2nd round pick in 2014 or 2015.
Sens traded Ben Bishop to the Lightning for Cory Conacher and a 4th round pick in 2013.
that's why im pissed off, schneids is 3 times the goalie as all those tendys put together and we only get a 9th overall pick? that doesn't seem right to me…atleast get something that helps us NOW
I don't believe that, he had a choice to trade him for whatever he could get…or waivers, maybe not buyout but he had other options. but if u trade a young franchise goalie like Schneider I expect a solid young roster player, 1st pick and a stud prospect….not just a 1st pick that hasn't proven anything yet

Schneider is young, he could of been a amazing goalie, So best goalie ever and probaly upcoming best goalie, Come On Gillis!
Hodgson may have not like it at the time but the trade was so horrible. The Canucks would be a lot better without Kesler,Sedins Edler and Burrows than what this joke of a franchise has done recently. This team has continued to get worse since moving Hodgson and Gillis should go for his pure incompetence.

WHEN, THEY HIRED TORTORELLA, DEVASTATED WHEN THEY TRADED LAPIERRE, AND NOW SHOCKED AGAIN THAT THEY TRADED SCHNEIDER. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?! THEY BETTER LEAVE THE SEDINS, BURROWS, KESLER, AND BIEKSA ALONE OR I MIGHT HAVE TO JUMP SHIP 🙁
And the player picked with that 9th overall…is now the Canucks captain.
The Canucks would end up choosing bo horvat, the eventual Canucks captain that would lead the team through mediocre periods of rebuilds and failed retools and behind the scenes drama eventually becoming our one of best players and a solid leader this after. 9 years later (a few days ago) the Canucks traded bo horvat (this drafts pick)back to the Lamoriello (now islanders gm) for a solid player (Beauvillier) the islanders best prospect (raty) and another 1st round draft pick for next year. As for Cory Schneider? someone who everyone from 9 years ago in the comments loved and seen as a future HOF goalie? His career plummeted after an injury in New Jersey and came back with a horrendous loosing record eventually becoming their seldom used backup before being traded for “future considerations” and send to the AHL. He’s currently playing for the islanders(Weirdly another Lamoriello deal) AHL team and can no longer compete play at an NHL level. Anyways, this trade has ended up being one of the best blockbuster trades in Canucks history and the 9 years later the saga lives on. I’ll check back in another 9 years to see how this new trade turns out, Canucks fans are once again currently pissed off that we traded one of our best players away so we will see it it turns into another home run for us or not🤷🏻♂️
