Did someone kidnap Gallant in overtime? Who let the kids out?
Trouba was a beast tonight. He hit Lucic and the goof skated away from Trouba. Lucic wanted no part of Trouba.
Can’t wait for the boys to come to Vancouver next week.
LGR!!!!
Did you guys notice Laf taking faceoffs for the Kid Line? He was only 1-3 on the night, but still better than Chytil’s 1-9… I’d like to see more of that.
Literally one of the best games I’ve ever been to in my life
Classic throw back game. Hits, goals, fights, come backs. Wish yheu were all like this.
Trouba was handing out L’s like Halloween candy.
How’s gallant say that wasn’t a good hockey game
That was a fun one.
The kids are our best players 5v5 and it isn’t close. Every goal Fil scores the price tag goes up. Makes the Tro signing just that much more painful. Regardless, we have him now, and there is no reason that line shouldn’t lead the team 5v5. (They never will, so I’m just wasting my breath)
If any of the kids took that Tro penalty they’d be out next game.
Pan and Zib finally looked to be on the same page. We need that to click
they also need a real RW. This vesey and goodrow nonsense needs to die. I say it every game but holy shit. The 4th line was an absolute clown show and its because these two are being pushed up where they don’t belong
Drop vesey and good to the 4th put back in gaut and krav, and we may actually have something here.
No one on the team needed that goal more than Laffy. I was really getting grossed out by how quickly the fans turned on him. Rooting for this kid so hard.
Halak once again comes in and plays a solid game for us. Maybe coulda had that PP goal, but ever since he switched buckets he looks like a new man.
Trouba might have actually healed over the break because we weren’t seeing those crushing blows as frequently as we did tonight. Im actually okay with his occasional boneheaded breakdown, or terrible puck handling, if it means we get 1-2 “Splatter jobs” a night
Onto the next
Best game I’ve seen since the 5 goal Mika game. Had everything you want from hockey; fighting, scoring, great saves, comebacks, hits, controversy, and Lucic getting wrecked.
Also I know this sub isn’t exactly huge on Ben Harpur, but the team is 13-4-3 with him in the lineup. He’s not coming out until the deadline and we’ve gotta accept that.
If he’s still in the LD3 spot after the deadline then I’ll be upset. But for now, eh so what. Let him have his moment.
I am pleased
Few thoughts:
Maybe most entertaining game all year.
Troubas kills per 60 makes up for every other deficiency.
Laffy great finish and kid line transforms him to an effective forward. He’s completely lost and looks frankly terrible when he’s not on that line. But when he is, you see him play freely and aggressively and creatively.
Harpur is really bad. Most games he’s not great but not too noticeable but today I couldn’t help noticing turnovers and just so many awful plays with the puck. Felt like nemeth 2.0 :(.
Vesey is maybe one of the most underrated players we have. He is a really smart player and he can play top 6 because he knows how to play that game even if he’s not bread/Mika tier. He does not play like a Fourth liner plugged into the top line (Jesper Fast type or Goodrow type). He plays like a Hobey Baker offensive talent. He possesses the puck, can make the fancy passes, button hooks on rushes for trailers etc etc. these are things top 6 guys do. Defensively broke up so many plays because he reads the play so well.
Conversely… goodrow really anchors his line even strength. He does not know how to play a possession high end offensive game. Good game on the PK though.
Bread was rough most od the game teetering more on the giveaway side of his sometimes gambling play style. But one beauty of a play to assist Mika… the feint, stick lift, the pass… shows why he’s so good.
Chytil and Mika.
I strongly dislike Gg but I’ll praise him for giving the kids more PP time. Couple times pp2 went out with 1:10 left.
Has anyone recently considered…
Why not us?
Second game I’ve ever been too and easily the best one lol (went to the home game against Columbus where they laid an egg in Mid October)
Trouba destroying Kadri then destroying Dube and then the Rangers cashing in the PP goal was wild in the garden. Place just kept losing its shit at a higher and louder level.
Was ready to say goodbye to two of my hats when Chytil had the wide open net in OT lol
Not even gonna lie that shit was insane and I’m fucking glad i showed up tonight
[Me watching Markstrom punish the post after the goal. ](https://youtu.be/U4dY52NiYvU)
That was a hell of a way to come back after the all-star festivities. Refs of course had to make it interesting. God knows what the fuck a kick is anymore. I guess you need to light the puck up like Captain Tsubasa for Toronto to agree your leg did the thing they think it should.
Trouba can play every forthcoming game goalless and with 0 assists, if he continues to demolish motherfuckers on the ice like he did tonight, I’ll take it all with a smile on my face.
See ya Wednesday.
I was at the game tonight. The energy after Trouba’s hits and fights was crazy. Then the goal to end the second was awesome.
Great team win and Laffy needed that goal. So nice to see him get it.
I love fighting in hockey but it’s bullshit every time a player lays a big hit some muppet jumps him and basically takes him out of the game for five minutes. Fighting isn’t getting your teammates back unless it’s an obviously dirty hit it’s just stupid and your teammate should be skating with his fucking head up
[Are you not entertained?!](https://streamable.com/2m08lk)
I want the kid line in the top 6. Idc about Tro and Kreider getting paid 11 million between the two of them. We have a deep 3 lines. I want the fucking kids seeing the ice.
Great game, despite the blatant cheating on the soccer kicked-in goal. Didn’t realize Calgary had their own refs.
In a game where imo BOTH teams deserved a point, this game was truly unbelievable. Laf deserving the GWG. Back and forth. This was a playoff game. Every line (w/maybe the exception of the trocheck, kreids, and goodrow line) played very well. Sammy Blais tonight, despite ALL THE HATE HE GETS, as well as Trouba played that physical style hockey. Fourth line looked like a physical 4th line. Trouba train destroying two guys. Of course, other hockey pages will be screeching their lungs out for “how dirty a player he is.” I guess Dube and Kadri had to take a shit. Ha Ha. Games like tonight is the reason why he’s the Captain.
Filip Chytil, that kid is adding fire to his (wait for it) Flames. Kid is en fuego. The Chyt is on! The yute line looked hot. Like to see Kakko shoot too.
If this team lost, Bread’s too many men penalty could have been the reason. People will blame Turk, for having Bread serve the penalty. He (Turk) held him accountable there. Penalty kill looked good (especially towards the end of the game).
Mika coming up clutch tonight. Not once but twice including (whispers.. It’s a Power Play Goal!). Bread redeemed himself with that beautiful apple.
Overall, after all those days off, the Rangers got the win! Plus got the 2 points which they keep as always. Keep it up. Flying down the stretch of the season. Every point matters. Rangers win. Onto the Canucks on Wednesday. God Save the King. Back afta dis.
The absolute love the team showed to laf after that goal just brought me so much happiness
holy. fucking. shit. what i would’ve given to be at msg tonight. top three game of the year right there, easy. the highs, the lows, the drama, the crowd, we haven’t had a game with that kinda energy for so long and we needed it bad. nothing but pure entertainment and i loved it
trouba was a tank, chytil wrecked markstrom, laf got his groove back, and everyone else had at least one good moment tonight. 10/10 no notes. we had some messy plays but honestly this was so much fun i don’t care. more of this pls
i am fully living, laffing and loving LFGR
Breaking my Reddit posting sobriety. Was at MSG tonight. Best game I’ve ever been to live other than Game 5 against the Pens last year
Chytil is Elytil
Some wins feel better than others, this is one of them
Some nights I like to believe the team is not fully putting the pedal to the metal.
Like, game one against the lightning was just a taste. And all this line fuckery and inconsistency is a rouse because the team knows what they can do and just want to get in and do some damage.
Tonight was fun. And I think this is another glimpse into how are team may be considered a multidimensional enigma or just a team that can do things at a flip of the switch when they want to.
Either way, I’m excited to see how the last games play out and what we do at the trade deadline, and what we may do in the playoffs. People ignore the fact that we are experienced now. And I love that.
That was fun. one of the best regular season games in the NHL this year.
Damn I had to cut out early to lift before work but I’m glad to see Laf got the GWG! Fucking let’s go!!!!
Straight up. Markstroms save on Zib May be the save if the year. To stop that slap shot point blank like that was just sickness.
Massive kudos to Laffy following that up and HOPEFULLY that breaks him out of what we mind fuck he’s been in
I’ve watched almost every game this season but sadly I had to work tonight and couldn’t watch the game (I got to watch OT though which was awesome) but damn apparently I missed one hell of a game. I saw Trouba’s fight posted, who were the other 2 fights? They never show them in highlights
Trouba Train on a roll, fights, plenty of goals(even if one was complete and utter bullshit), KID Line doing work. Fuck, that’s fun
Trouba and Blais did a really good job tonight. Felt like playoff hockey. Blais has confidence which is good to see. Looked like playoffs with Laf and Chytil getting 3 goals and Mika getting a pair.
GG did right by Chytil tonight starting the OT.
my grandma passed away over the weekend, i’d like to think this one was for her. LFGR.
I brought my whole family to the garden tonight. They had a goddamn blast. What a night. Let’s fucking go.
Extreme Flames fan here.
Trouba: Monster. Huge clean hits.
Game of the year. Would loved to have been there.
Just got tickets for Feb.18. Gonna be hype!
Who got the hat?
Decided to take a look at the Flames thread and there wasn’t a single anti-Trouba comment, so props to them for that
Man what a fuckin random Monday night to decide to go to the game with my bro. $65 so very well spent. The Garden was going absolutely bonkers.
I had the feeling we traded too many chances. I don’t think we should be happy with that performance. Entertaining game and good result though. LGR
