I don't think that Nyqvist is worth going after – a guy coming off of LTIR is a risk – and he won't be up to speed for a while. The Oilers don't need a player who is both new to the team and also trying to get his game back after a long injury.
If we move JP and McLovin (with the 1.125 million we have Cap wise) LESS 3.1 million for Yamo we end up with 3,775,000 LEFT. That gives us (BARELY) enough to get Bjugstad and someone in the Gavrikov (OR LESS) money range (unless someone retains or we get 3rd party and retention. Look at the numbers, 2.8 plus 900K is 3.7 (leaving us 75K). We can't afford 3 mil (we can't afford 2.9 mil in this scenario) if we have a Bjugstad in the mix UNLESS more than JP and McLovin go byebye. Math, it sucks but it's there. I know I'd love Toews but that would require 2 teams and max retention to be able to pull off WITH Bjugstad (or someone around him money wise). Can we do Nyquist, really depends on contracts. We're allowed only so many and they aren't on CAP but are they considered a contract slot? I don't think so (wouldn't make sense) but…

I'm just so freaking terrified that Holland is going to either trade Desharnais or get too many D men and send Desharnais back down to Bakersfield! Yes trade Foegle! Jp is great but his cap hit is too high to keep him! Don't trade for injury prone question marks!
I'd still want the Oilers to go after a Centre like Domi or Bjugstad on deadline day. Chycarun might end up somewhere in L.A or Ottawa but won't fall him out of the picture yet. Keep on eye on Duclair's Name being mentioned few times.

I think the Oil make 1 trade…. Holland seems pragmatically conservative and generally gets shafted in trades…..I expect a fleecing by the opposition… part in parcel b/c everyone fully understands how subpar the pieces Edmonton has to offer.
And Columbus and Jarmo just gives up Nyqvist? So silly that teams like Oilers and Leafs' fans think they just go out and "get players" while trading back some deadweight. 3, 7, 8. I’ve mentioned it earlier this season that I think Toews is my preferred trade deadline pick. I don’t even care if he sits on the bench every game, his impact on players now and into the future would be undeniable. If we think Keith was impactful, imagine Captain Serious himself. I believe he’s a Messier type, so my only concern is before any trade him and Conner need to have a long phone call to make sure there won’t be conflict between them. I’m not saying either is prone to conflict, but Toews will definitely have presence and you don’t want that natural power to upset the Apple cart. Assuming that call, he would be the most singular impactful pick up we could pick up.

oil need toughness, size and defensive specialists . Nyqvist is not any of these things
I like nyquist as a kucherov type acquisition. But I 100% back getting JVR and Schenn if we can pick up a good center with it. WE NEED MORE LEAFS

Nyqvist is a no go for me. Just hoping the JP is moved soon . Bjugstad looks like a good option.
