  1. I know that feeling, I had what is called a Tri-Malleolar break, so I had this plus my talus had broke also, my surgeon “in afgan as I was a UK serving soldier n got blown up” n my Drs said they had to wait BECAUSE of the swelling as he said it might be hard to close up. My leg had almost gone black by the time of my surgery n the swelling hadn’t gone down at all after 4 days, they had to readjust my leg as they checked blood flow n nothing getting to my foot, they used some kind of sensitive microphone on my bog toe to find this out. I was feeling crap anyhoo n then got this news after just hours in the field hospital. Felt like years before I could walk again without a crutch n after the swelling came down after 3 months believe it or not i had lots of fun peeling back the HUGE amounts of THICK skin that was now coming off as my ankle started to go back to a reasonable size n I was in an inflatable boot by then. Still had black bruises all over even then n my ankle is still twice the size of my other one. Had to leave the Para regiment (special airborne unit so you yanks can understand lol) I was with n go back to norm army because I couldn’t run n long March with heavy weights anymore 🙁 oh I was an attached JTAC to a long reach US unit when this happened n thx to that Blackhawk medics n crew who came n got me.

  2. Question.
If an arm wrestler breaks his arm in a contest, can he heal and wrestle again? Or is he done? Same with a leg and kicking?

  3. This guy is a race horse. He will get the minimum of tissue damage and maximum of immediate use due to his athleticism and pain tolerance as well as his ability to follow instructions. So internal nail with possible slip plate incision if a very complicated break. Looks simple to me and terrifying but actually quite an easy injury to sort out for our fine surgeons. Tough guy, easy surgery. Soft guy, tough surgery is the short answer.

  4. I know you probably dont even need to make these, but thank you so much for making content for the curious athletes

  5. I like this kinda interesting content, although English isn't my first language and it's quite diffecult to follow at times.

  6. No idea how you ended up in my feed, but I’m glad you did. You’re a fantastic teacher Doctor. I like how you’re introducing jargon to develop the vocabulary of your audience. Great stuff!

  7. Any chance the fracture happened due to previously weakened bone structure from hair cracks that went unnoticed?

  8. “His lower leg was bent at an awkward angle”. You know dude has seen some messed up legs if he considers that “awkward” 🤣

  9. does a surgery inserting metal hardware to straighten a tib fib fracture give a MMA fighter an advantage later after healing due to the extra strength provided by the metal hardware now implanted, making it almost impossible for another MMA fighter to cause such injury on him again, but he with his new stronger leg he can just start leg checking everyone as a advantage ?

  10. We will see IF he comes back, the way Silva returned. Some injuries affect the mind more than the body. I thought Silva was DONE. Some can argue he was, cuz he didnt win like he did before the injury, but he returned to the octagon. That impressed me deeply.

  11. Don't mind me, just hiding in the comments listening to the analysis because HOLY GOD THAT TURNS MY STOMACH TO LOOK AT

  12. This is all the things I learned in my training as a soldier and doctor I dont have a paper that ses I am qualified but I can do advanced surgery it is always good to catch up with things wen you almost forgot them thanks for the refresh

  13. Dr. Chris, I believe you missed the "Ahhahaa, Karma's a bitch, right Mr. Weidman?" question concerning this particular situation… Just sayin'…

  14. Came here literally hammered after the Connor Dustin fight…watched this whole video…took mental notes…..pretty sure when I wake up tomorrow I'll be Stephen Hawking….minus the spine damage …ish……

  15. I was a meat cutter for years taking pride in the accuracy of my knifemanship, but you surgeons are next level miracle workers! Way above regular doctors.

  16. I have an intramedullary nail from a similar fracture and this video was both interesting and nauseating at the same time. I was knocked out the whole time and didn't know this much detail about how it got inside of me 🤢. Modern medicine is amazing! Thanks for the video.

  17. Please Dr. Chris can you review or explain MUAY THAI injuries?? I've been enjoying your videos and would like to see your review on my favorite sport!! Thanks and keep up the awesome content!!

  18. so. can he still compete now that he is a titanium cyborg? will he be able to play the piano in the morning?

  19. I was hoping your professional diagnostic would have been " karma" for him breaking anderson silva's lol jk Chris is a good guy and that kick was so absolutely heavy and it was a perfect check by Uriah hall hall turned his leg out making the shin connect with the hardest part of the knee

  20. Hey Dr.,Chris. A lot of comments about him trying to stand and not knowing he had injured himself. I am two yrs post opp. having ruptured both Quad tendons I kicked both legs to the side when I was on my back to avoid my car rolling over me. I can speak from experience when the adrenaline kicks,in you feel no pain. I think Tom cruise is more, impressive then this guy since Tom broke his ankle in mission I,possible and sill continued to run. I hope, you do,some videos on QTR injuries
