  1. I'd say there should be a middle ground between the playoffs we get and a Superbowl-like playoffs series in terms of length. The players seem utterly broken when we reach the finals. Anyone who watches playoffs intensively will tell you the first two rounds usually are the best. By reducing the amount of games for each series, they'd get better content. However it's clear it's owners and advertisers who are calling the shots and would rather make more money/having their products featured more extensively with more games.

As for McDavid's criticism of the shootouts, I agree. We should get a full 20 minutes 3 on 3 overtime. It would most likely never reach the end and we'd get the spectacular plays 3 on 3 has given us since this was implemented. However, this time it's TV channels who are pulling the strings here I believe. They want the game to fit in a very precise time block and at the end of the day, this has an impact on the NHL's decision.

  2. He'll, I'd like to see the following:
    1) 20 min 3 on 3 ot (1point for tie)
    2) 1 – 8; 2 – 7; 3 – 6; 4 – 5 playoff structure.
    3) An alphabetical All-Star system. IE: 1st year Anaheim, 2nd year Arizona, 3rd year Boston, 4th year Buffalo…etc. This ensures that ever team has one and not the same 7 teams.
    4) Gary fired

  3. Couldn’t agree more with Syd. The fact that two top 5 teams face each in the round is a bit of a joke. His point of the current standings not really benefiting a quality regular season performance is pretty fair to be honest.

  4. I never had a problem watching the penguins huge fan and I was able to watch every game on Hulu till this year all of a sudden I only get to see 15 games out of an 80 plus game season!!! Wtf Hulu!!! Wtf ???

  5. 2 conferences… no divisions… 3-2-1 point format… No shootout… 7 min OT… end in tie is okay… 1-8 playoff seedings… and for the love of God, stop the woke social justice garbage!

  6. I didn't even know they changed it! Proves how much of an Idiot Bettman and crew are. Sydney Crosby is 100% correct!

  7. I get where he's coming from, but the way this is addressed sounds like "we were number 4 in the season, so we should be gifted an easy team to flush down the toilet"
Which doesn't sound enjoyable to watch.

Placing similarly skilled teams up against each other is much more interesting to watch and seeing the third place teams build momentum is wonderful

  8. 1v8. Agreed. OT, changed back to 5v5 continuous. 3v3 is dumb and boring after 30 seconds. ASW changed back to fan votes in players and the teams are built by voted captains.

  9. I agree that the 1-8 seeding is the way to go, but the Lightning would have had to play the Rangers in the first round under the 1-8 seeding format. Would that really have been much better than the Leafs in the first round?

The worst first round series last was Wild vs. Blues. Leafs vs. Lightning would have been #3 and #5 in the 1-8 format, but the Wild and Blues would have been #2 and #4.

Let's also not pretend like the Avalanche weren't extremely banged up during the Stanley Cup series. Multiple players still have lingering injuries to this day. The only reason you won't hear about it as much is because they won.

  10. Both right. Old format was better and get rid of the stupid shootouts. I'd rather see a tie

  11. Nhl is nothing now but a woke circus can't watch it anymore 52 year leaf fan sorry guys, will miss ya

  12. People say I hate the format because I'm a leafs fan. It's just dumb for hockey in total. Other teams will hate it too evebtually
