The Toronto Maple Leafs still remain on their bye week but will be returning to the ice soon and we figured this would be a good time to give our outlook for the remainder of the season. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their look at three storylines to follow starting with Auston Matthews’ status when the team returns and how bad his knee injury is. They move on to look at what the Leafs will look to do at the trade deadline (what are their priorities) and how much they are willing to give up to get it done. To end the show, Mike and Dave look at the team’s goaltending tandem and why that will be a story worth keeping an eye on in the final stretch of the season.

The Murray signing is becoming as horrible as all the critics said it was last summer. Maybe he comes back in the playoffs and turns back the clock but it seems less and less likely as time goes on.

I'm a faithful follower of Locked On Leafs for years. I'm listening and watching from Israel. My concern about the upcoming trade deadline is that Dubas might trade away too much of the Leafs future in order to be good now. I've been watching the Leafs for decades and I don't want to return to the bad years again.

If a cup is the objective, there can be no doubt that this team as it is would need horseshoes up their a$$ to win it. They're very good … but not that good, and we all know the Lord Stanley's Mug is the toughest trophy in Pro sports.
1) Defensively, they seem pretty solid but that's without consideration for injuries.
2) They don't score enough. Hard to believe with $40M tied up in four elite forwards, but it is what it is.
Top 6 forward and depth defenceman who can eat a lot of minutes would be my priorities in that order. The thing that really worries me is that this team has not shown me that they can put together a stretch of games where they flat out execute … where they look like the best team in the league. This is different than running up points in a stretch. Can they find that level of compete? Can Sheldon pull that out of them?
I'm just outside of the GTA.
Matthew's wont even get 40. What if he doesn't come back playing 100%? Let's be honest, he hasn't been playing like last year.
