  1. I’m with Ross on Hamonic. I’d love to keep him as a bottom pairing guy on like a 1 year, $1m type contract.

Travis is a great guy who plays with a ton of heart. I think his play style and effort set a good example for younger players.

Worst case scenario, he regresses a lot over the summer, and he is scratched a lot as a 7th D. That’s not a horrible situation. Not like we’d be paying $4+mil for a 7th D a la Zaitsev.

  2. Personally, I don’t really think we should do anything at the dead line. If we can get a couple 5th round picks for one or two of our pending UFAs, sure. Why not? But I don’t see the point in making any significant moves.

The only exception I see is if a LEGIT defenceman is available at a reasonable price. But even that seems more like an off-season move at this point.

But if talks with DeBrincat aren’t going well regarding an extension, I would be willing to move him. But it would have to be a REAL, established D man. Otherwise, qualify Cat in the Summer and look to make a move then.

  3. Ottawa is in the mushy middle when it comes to being buyers/sellers. A lot of people said Ottawa is on the fence and I don't disagree with them. I don't know what they will do at the deadline but I hope it is not too much but also not too little. Also great episode guys! ♥♥♥

  4. I think alots going to depend on those 11 games. If they go on a heater I could see them keeping most the ufas and being more of a buyer

  5. If they trade Tyler Motte, they should resign him in the summer. He’s a great penalty killer and would be a great 4th liner.

  6. Sounds silly but my job sucks so bad (office job) I look forward to these daily like I legit get excited to catch these.

  7. I would hate to see Motte go, but the value in return and freeing up the space for the b-sens, as you mention, sounds like a good idea.

  8. Umm… you realize none of the Boston high draft picks are breaking into their lineups, either. I wonder if the Bruins spent a great deal on "scouting"? So, they're entire core of main players are in their 30s with no juniors being added right, especially their own draft picks (Beecher, etc.), to benefit from their own experience. I don't consider 25-26 yr olds as juniors. Hamonic only cost a single 3rd round pick, period, he didn't cost the Sens, Dobson. Sorry dudes, but players who are ranked high at mid-season may fall by late season or be replaced by other players at year's end due to whatever reasons. There's over 31,000 eligible draft players to be viewed in 365 days. Mr Fantilli, prior to Team Canada, hadn't played on a team in the last 3-4 years without his brother on it, and I wonder what Team Canada would have looked like, if Mr Bedard had been shuffled to Team Austria.

  9. I agree with Ross. I hate that Dorion overpaid to get Hamonic (could have got him for free on waivers or a 3rd round pick later), but he's not terrible in my opinion. I'd be okay with him back on a on a 1-2 year deal for something around league minimum. Right short defensemen don't grow on trees!

  10. I agree with the list. I agree to only keep Hammer if it's <1.5. And I know I will shelled for this but I would at least see what I could get for Joseph and Parker.

  11. No question. Josh Norris should be traded out. Only way they can resign Debrincat, Motte and Pinto with room to improve the defense and goaltending. I like Norris but he's so injury prone, and I'd rather keep the durable Debrincat over a brittle Norris, and with Grieg, Norris is expendable.

  12. The Kings are interested in Talbot and they have too many right shot D (Matt Roy) so a deal might work for both sides?

  13. Trade the oft-injured Josh Norris…Sign Debrincat longterm. The only pending UFAs that may generate mild interest is Talbot & Motte.

  14. Difficult to understand how anyone can think a 5'8" 30 goal 70 point LW is more important to a team's future than using that money for a goalie and a top 4 RD.

  15. You don't make a move to get someone at the trade deadline because if you do and you still do not make the playoffs, then you will not be there next season as Manager. Better to wait until next season. The team needs to learn to work together as a whole and push for the wild card spot with who they have now. I would even bring up J.B.D. so he has the experience.

  16. I think Brannstrom has more value than what meets the eye and should be a high trade priority. There isn't really a spot for him in the lineup as he is the #3 offensive defenseman and also the smallest. I think he could be used better on a different team.

We should keep Talbot since he said a while ago he's interested in staying so he'll be cheap. He has proven that he can steal games for the Sens, he was the guy during the Sens best run of the season. He also had some bad stretches but that's what tandems are for, it's just unfortunate that both goalies had bad stretches at the same time which magnified the issue.

I don't think the Sens should consider trading Norris right now. It's 2 separate shoulder injuries he has had, I think it's just bad luck and he'll get past it. But I also believe he is a big part of the positive culture this team has since him and Brady are good friends and he just seems like such a nice and positive guy. Also it's not a good look to dump core guys signed to long term deals the second they face some adversity.

Please no big moves at the deadline or until new owners come in.
