  1. Yeah, you may not appreciate the status Yzerman has in Detroit. They were dog 💩after Howe for decades. Yzerman brought them to the Promised Land. He may be among the safest GMs in theNHL

  2. In Stevie Y we trust! The NHL is a tough league, there's no Russian 5 this time.

But we do have Larks, this generations "Capt." And the Redwood line. Husso, and others.

  3. Yzerplan fanbois are annoying. Whenever the vids on this channel were made right after the waived players cleared, they sounded exhilarated, and I couldn't understand it other than just Yzerman fanboi brainworms.

  4. The fact that he's waving $10million in shots he missed, shows us why he's different. He's not forcing anything to save face. When you make a mistake, own it and move on.

GMs in every profession are terrible at that. SY is not. That's why he's someone to trust.

  5. The Yzerplan will take time, yes it has been 3-4 years but thats short in terms of hockey. By late 2020’s, he will have this team in the top 5 of the league.

  6. Definitely some unforeseen circumstances no one was expecting this year (Vrana, Ned, Bert, etc) but even after the big spending over the summer, most analysts I saw were saying expect the Wings to be knocking on the door of a wild card but they'll probably still miss the playoffs this year. Things are still pretty much panning out that way.

  7. Planting my trade deadline flag right now

    Bertuzzi to the Oilers:
    – We send: Bertuzzi, Maatta, 2023 2nd round pick
    – We receive: Broberg, Puljujarvi, 2023 1st round pick

  8. The East conference is pretty much impenetrable right now. In a couple of years, tampa, boston, leafs, wash, pit will all be probably on a rebuild, and that’s when the wings are gonna be in their prime. The time is coming, but it’s not gonna be in the next two or three seasons.

  9. gotta love how people cry that chris Ilitch is cheap then he gives someone extra then everyone crys lmfao

  10. Yzerman has been actually doing a fabulous job. It will pay dividends after they get rid of cancer in Vrana, bad signing in goalie Ned, and bad drafting in Zadina who are all underperforming. Detroit is on an upward trajectory and will be just fine after getting rid of these bad players on the team!

  11. 19 is true red wing, he is mister red wing now that, 9 Gordy, has passed. Stevie is a proven gm, he had nothing to build with. Yzerman will rebuild the dynasty,

  12. Thinking another 2 years bare minimum of no measurable forward progress before Yzerman starts getting real criticism locally.

Right now the wings are focusing on defense. They are currently 13th overall in expected goals against. They are clearly better defensively than they have been in previous years. So there’s a clear step forward that’s happened since last year. That’s all we are asking.

  13. Mocks trades for your liking:

To NYR: Tyler Bertuzzi (50% RS)

To DET: 2023 3rd rd (BOS)
    Vitali Kravtsov

    Mock trade 2:

    To SEA: Dylan Larkin
    Albert Johansson

    To DET: 2024 2nd rd
    Shane Wright
    Alexander Wennberg

    Mock trade 3:

To BOS: Jakob Vrana (50% RS)
    Olli Maatta

    To DET: 2023 1st rd
    John Beecher
    Craig Smith
    Mike Reilly

  14. SY spent early thinking last summers UFAs were going to click into gear with second line scoring and a gritty veteran Dman playing with Seider,. It could also be reasoned that these UFAs would elevate leadership and accountability on and off the ice. Yet now we stand with iffy results and really a slight blip of betterment in the standings. More importantly it seems the Red Wings missed an important chance to be high in the draft order considering the scoring talent available in the top 10 of this 2023 NHL draft. Detroit will be lucky to draft 9th overall and settle for a prospect who will need more development time.
On the bright side SY added Kubilik, Husso, and Walman who seem to be real under the radar signings where he usually thrives.

  15. tl;dr – No. I'm not worried about the Yzerplan. The Wings are in better shape than they were 3 years ago. LGRW!

—- EXTREMELY LONG POST WARNING —-

Here's my outlook on this. I'm not stressing or worrying about "The Captain" (Yzerman) at all. I'm not saying he's going to be perfect, but perspective is everything here. Remember that when Stevie got this team, we had extremely little cap space, and even less in the cupboard in terms of players we had from the draft. Since then the Wings have plenty of cap space. That's a marked improvement from where we were.

Also in terms of standings, yes we're middle of the pack. That said, we were at the bottom of the NHL on a regular basis. It's progress. You can't realistically expect to go from the bottom of the league to a cup contender in 4 years. Building a winner takes time, and as Stevie is a proven GM (as well as a legend) I'm willing to bide my time and let him do his thing. If in another 2-4 years we've regressed, THEN I'll panic.

Vrana was a win, but something happened where he was put in a program. It could have been subtance, emotional or a myriad of issues. Who knows what it was. It's still being kept very quiet. I don't see how you can plan for that kind of scenario, so I don't put that on Steve.

As far as Erne and Nedejlkovic are concerned, they have been sent down because other players have shown that they are more productive at the moment. This is a sign of competition and growth from prospects. I mean right now one our better prospects (Soderblom) is with the GR Griffins right now though he started with the Red Wings this year.

It wasn't that he played poorly, it was that the Wings likely wanted him to get more top 2 line minutes as opposed to playing on the 3rd line. But Berggren & Zadina are up with the big team. So moves need to be made. After his last few games, would you even try to argue that Nedejlkovic is a better goalie than Hellberg right now? I certainly wouldn't.

So yes, three players are eating cap in the minors. That said, I want the best players to play, and if there are underlying issues going on with a player (Vrana) that could cause issues, why keep him in the big team? As far as the cap, I trust Steve will work this out in a way that doesn't kill our team when the right opportunity presents itself.

Lastly we'll talk about the current captain, Dylan Larkin. Just to be clear, I REALLY like Larkin. In a lot of ways, his leadership style kind of reminds me of The Captain (Yzerman). He's largely quiet, understated & leads by example by his actions, not by talking. I think that Yzerman recognizes that as well and wants to sign him.

That said, The Captain (Yzerman) took a little less on a couple contracts to make sure he could have players around him. Why? Because no man wins the Stanley Cup alone. You need a strong team to help you. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he should be low balled. I'm saying that if the difference between Larkin and the wings offer is 8 million vs 9 million, maybe settle at 8.5? He's not the only high end player we need to lock up in the near term. If he really wants the 9 million that badly, I say "Thank you Larkin. I wish you the best. We loved having you as a Red Wing, but we'll have to choose a new captain".

So in short, I'm not stressing Yzerman's plan right now. It would take more than this to get me worked up. LGRW!

  16. Yzerman is not above criticism. It is true we have given him plenty of leeway, because he inherited an abysmal team. We also know it takes 8 to 10 years to rebuild and we are heading in the right direction. But the Chiarot acquisition has been criticized. Putting Vrana on waivers gave a lot of fans cause for concern. But in the end, we have faith that he will make the Wings a cup contender again. So we don't sweat minor setbacks as long as we keep moving forward.

  17. It was a shame Martin could not hold the fort and really was atrocious while Demko was out. Now he has to suck it up again in the minors.

  18. And dammit Lego, I have been following you for a while now and still have absolutely no idea what the hell you are saying at the end of each video, except 'and….bye'. lol

  19. At least he HAS a plan!
Look around the league man, there’s some floundering GMs !

Plus the Stanley Cup is hard to win, I mean even WITH all the pieces everything else has to line up.
Thats why players are so superstitious.

    Im enjoying the process.
    Like life.

  20. It's his lightning tenure……. How he isn't being thrown on the BBQ for these 🤷 but, he is still doing better than Benning or Allvain

  21. When yzerman took over the wings…they got no prospects, and no superstar. Bunch of ahl and amatuer players, etc. No draft picks, no capitals. You cant build that fast…look at all the teams with young propspects and top picks. Devils n sabres…they just starting to be good after all these yrs

  22. I think part of it was bad luck, again this rebuild is gonna get ugly but this offseason and deadline are key. I think those players set it back but this team is still rebuilding but remember yzerman had a bare boned team

  23. Interesting attempt to stir up the Wings fanbase here – for the record we're not out of the wildcard race however it's not looking hopeful right now. I get the idea of looking at this year's draft and thinking it's worth another season of pain for but the team has made progress and has a well stocked prospect cupboard which hasn't even begun to feed into the NHL yet. Yes, not all trades and draft picks will work but Steve Y has pulled off some smart moves and, to quote the man "requires patience" . This was never going to be a quick and easy thing to achieve and we have to face that fact although I'd absolutely love to see us pick top 5 in this draft…..
