Klim Kostin hit on Ian Cole – Tough Call Review

Klim Kostin leaves his feet in response to imminent contact with Ian Cole. I understand it, but it’s not safe.

  1. charging penalty whether or not he jumps into the other player; 5min major if he jumps, 2min minor if he doesn't

  2. It’s fine he has the puck dude steps up on him he tries to dodge the hit ends up leaving his feet not a big deal lmao quit being soft.

  3. Nope, have to disagree {respectfully of course} with your jump call and assessment —- As a player when you look up and see a hit like this one coming at full speed you attempt to make yourself as tall as possible to be in a favorable position to absorb the hit. Self-preservation should never become a penalty, he did not put up an elbow, he did not use his stick to protect himself. The ref made a good decision to let them play { no harm no foul }. That's my take on this one.

  4. “Not suspension worthy”
    No shit Sherlock 😂
This guy is obviously a casual fan and never played full contact

  5. You’re wrong. That’s just a guy dumping the puck are bracing for the hit. Good hockey play. Quit being pussies.

  6. It would be pretty iffy for the official to insist that Kostin's skates left the ice before making contact.

  7. Kostin is receiving the hit not initiating… He's only trying to protect himself at this point.

  8. I understand protecting yourself but that can/should include slowing down/stopping/changing lanes. The defender was barely moving at this point and Kostins was in the motion of speeding up and accelerating upwards into the hit. His skates don't leave the ice until the last moment but they're not coming off the ice if he's not initiating that upward acceleration. And in general, rules usually only refer to "checking or X the opposing player". As in, who the checker and receiver are is a fluid situation. This is a charging minor, though the Oilers would lose their minds on the call, the same way every team loses their minds on a call as if they've never been called for a minor penalty before.

  9. He deserves it, Tampa all ready fked Kane season then maroon goes around tripping players for no reason, Tampa bay deserves to get played physical against

  10. That’s a clean hit all the way.
His skates left the ice as he was falling down not before the hit… obviously whoever posted this doesn’t watch or know the rules of hockey 🏒.. that’s why there was no penalty DA
