Tyler Yaremchuk will give you his thoughts on that loss with his three big things, along with Oilersnation writer Cameron Lewis. The two of them will also address the Jakub Chychrun rumours which erupted on the internet over the weekend. With the Oilers now out of Chychrun, who would you want to see the Oilers acquire on the blueline?
@Edmonton Oilers

Thank god we have Tyler. Keep that kool-aid blocker on, please. Let's hope Kenny also has them on.
No player addition guarantees a Stanley Cup. Karlsson would improve the defence and that's what the Oilers need.
I dont want karrlson hes having an up year sure but he will NEVER be the same player he was with the sens. I wish the media would maybe push trades that make sense instead of this drivel.
SJ perspective. His trade value is at an all time high. There is no true contender that will ever have cap space to take on Karlsson for 4 years. Karlsson will never sign off on a trade to any team with actual cap space because they are bottom dwellers. If sharks don’t move him they are paying 11 mill for the next 4 years. Why wouldn’t they get something for him while they can. 3 first rounders isn’t a realistic ask and sharks know that; just an opening ask. Moreover, if he gets hurt in the next four years, they get nothing. Karlsson is not to “fix” the PP, he’s to solidify the top 5 at 5v5. He has more even strength goals than Draisaitl this year, just saying. 2 years of Drai remaining. Push in the chips. Superstar players are almost always worth it. Pulju/Yamo, Barrie plus 2 first rounders (prob in the 20s) = do it from the Oilers POV. This shows they’re getting some advice from analytics folks finally and thank god for that. Cap is the obstacle but if Holland can swing it, do it.
He improves the team. Bottom line.
I dont know why these dopes have taken it upon themselves to determine how the trade happens .
My question to Oilers nation would be why a right shot d man, doesnt Edmonton have Bouchard and Barrie.Would a 3rd pairing be ok or could he be a power play specialist?I was thinking Chychrun by moving Jesse P.,Yamamoto and some others and a first rounder not top 12 protected.Chychrun is the kind of d man that Edmonton needs.I would push LA out and go for Chychrun
I seriously doubt that he would improve Oilers D.
This is the shit that pisses me off.
The math is simple.
My negotiating tactics.
Your team is crap and won’t be making the playoffs for years. Having EK on your team is a liability.
We’ll take him off your hands.
You are taking half his cap hit on or a third party will be.
I’m going to give you this years first rounder and next years second rounder.
Paying a premium, NOPE.
I’m buying, you are selling. You’ve got no other buyers. This isn’t EK of four years ago. He’s caught lightning in a bottle and I’m not going to be stung overpaying for that.
You can take my deal and recoup some of what you lost acquiring him or I’m walking.
And that my friends is how Ken Holland needs to negotiate.
The day of the overpay is over.
Edmonton is good enough without mortgaging the future for the bionic man.
It’s called value. If they want three first rounders I’m hanging up.
Third team involved and it will work
If McDavid and drasital both want him Holland has to make it work otherwise you risk them wanting to leave when contracts up
Fck it. Do it.
I think, this is enuff .. I've listened to this drivel for long time .. This is Steve Dangle West… No More.
Oiler fans don't seem to recognize, including this channel, is that the Karlsson deal is solely meant to solidify a 2 to 4 year Dynasty window. Leon's and Connor's contracts expire (relatively speaking) the same time Karlsson's contract expires. Then that's it it's all over. Everyone is gone…Connor, Leon, Kane, Karlsson, Hyman, Nuge…everyone 3, 4 years from now will be gone. Ironically the only one that will probably stay is Nurse due the financial weight, term, and underwhelming skill set that's stapled to his jersey. This is it. This is the only shot for a legit Dynasty and Karlsson is the piece that activates the ticking clock for the Dynasty window to open and close. That's why Holland, Woodcroft, Connor and Leon are all in for Karlsson.
It's laughable that Oiler fans are wanting to hang on to players like Bouchard, Barrie, and even some top prospects. These are not Dynasty players. These are squeeze you into the playoff players. Big difference. No doubt we would deal Nurse if we could, but even if there was a buyer for Nurse, his NMC is a non starter, and even there wasn't a NMC, Connor would never let that happen. The mindset of Holland, Woodcroft, Connor and Leon is Dynasty. Period! At this juncture, with respect to Connor and Leon being at the height of their careers, Holland is all in to shipping out any player that is not Dynasty material.
Make a better deal tho
I agree with everything said here but unfortunately, this thing has taken on a life of its own now and when you hit that stage, it becomes like trying to talk your 18 year old honors student out of quitting college and marrying the 29 year old bum with a rap sheet and no job but movie star looks and a motorcycle.
You can beg and plead and reason until you're blue in the face but she's smitten and she's tuned you out. It's going to happen and that's it. All you can do at this point is pray that the damage will be minimal.
As far as I'm concerned, it's all about winning the cup this year or next year, and worry about contracts, money and shit like that later. Once McD and Drai are gone, it's back to the dark ages for the Oil. You have to make hay while the sun is still shining…
This only works if the Oilers don't give up the whole farm to buy Karlsson. He could potentially allow Nurse to go back to being the physical shut down threat he was when he was playing with Klefbom but the price I've seen is not worth it at all. I've seen this year's first, Bouchard, Bourgault, Barrie, Puljujarvi plus and that just feels like a desperation move to try to win this year while making sure that the team loses the ability to continue to grow from within going into the future. I would love to see EK come to Edmonton, but right now the rumoured back pocket deal for Kane looks better, even if Kane is injured.
