GAME RECAP: Penguins at Sharks (02.14.23) | Battle in the Bay

The Pittsburgh Penguins continued along with their western road trip, making their last stop in San Jose to take on the Sharks. Rickard Rakell got the scoring kicked off in the first period of play with his 19th goal of the season. Later on in the second, Sidney Crosby connected with Jake Guentzel on a dazzling pass to put Pittsburgh up 2-0 heading into the final intermission. The Sharks would find the back of the net late in third to make it a one goal game but an empty-netter off the stick of Jake Guentzel would seal this one for the Penguins with a final score of 3-1. Casey DeSmith was excellent throughout the entire contest, collecting 38 saves in the winning effort.

  1. The way DeSmith plays hot or cold the Pens should start him every game but pull him when he let's up a goal.

  2. Good performance by DeSmith and good on the Crosby line for being the lone producer. Can't wait to see the Penguins play three huge matchups back-to-back.

  3. Desmith is very underrated as far as saves, the problem I think is he has trouble covering the puck. He has a ton of rebounds that turn into second and third chances, and any goalie is gonna struggle with those
