We made this video discussing the idea of Vancouver Canucks forward JT Miller getting sent over to a sleeper team, as hinted at by the folks over at Sportsnet 650. There was an implication that a team that was eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs might be interested, so let’s discuss the Blues, Hurricanes, Panthers, and Flames.

  1. I think Calgary could definitely be a sleeper team, but they wouldn’t have the money to keep JT long term ( if they sign Johnny and Tkachuk to massive contracts)

  2. None of these teams have anything of value to offer. No great prospects and no good draft picks means they won’t be able to out bid a team like the NYR or the devils.

  3. Canes won’t be going after Miller. They don’t have the cap space, and they won’t spend assets on a guy who won’t even be resigned.

  4. Blues give their 1st, Barbashev, Mikkola, and Tanner Dickinson. They could still move Tarasenko this offseason but I doubt Vancouver is the team he goes to

  5. Red wings will get millers for our first this year (8th), joe veleno, 2 second round picks, let me know if I should add anything

  6. As a flames fan i would be very disappointed if they gave up anything for Miller. We don't need him or want him. Canucks should keep him.

  7. Columbus needs a 1C to play with Laine for a couple of years while Sillinger gains experience; they have a spare #6 overall pick, and enough cap space to also take Myers, no salary retained.

  8. Miller @50% retained and Schenn for Knies, Lilligren, 2022 1st and 2023 2nd and 2024 3rd. Toronto in win now mode. Their window is closing soon.

  9. It is one thing to have enough cap space, but what do these teams have to offer for a player as good as Miller? Their first round picks won't be extremely valuable, since all four are expected to make the playoffs. Furthermore, do any of these teams have the kind of top tier prospects that Vancouver would ask in return?

  10. I gapped on Miller. Perhaps they try for a young signed player. Then if another team can part with a good young player for a player who is at a higher level right now. And a pick. Still has to be a contender. Could even go to the Wild. Or Carolina. Lots of options here. Multi player trade, pick, swap. I cringe at trades, but the team is hurtin in a few areas. Now if only they could move Meyers and OEL.

  11. J.T. Miller for Sam Reinhart! Reinhart is a British Columbia boy. Makes perfect sense for a trade. Both teams make out good in the trade.

  12. My guess the sleeper team would be an East Coast team. Carolina, Boston, Rangers & Islanders I could see having interest.

  13. Blue Jackets have the assets and cap room for Miller. It is close to his home… why no one talking about this
