But, then again, the league wants this to become basketball on ice. No more contact so this is prime example of how to get the players to be second guessing throwing a hit.

That was the softest shoulder to shoulder hit in the history of suspensions. With people like these 2 is it any wonder why you cant play defense in basketball, hit the QB in football, break up a double play, etc etc. These 2 pansies should go watch soccer if you want a soft game or maybe chess.

As a NYR fan, I’ll agree this was unacceptable. There’s a difference between standing your opponent up a fraction of a second late, it’s another thing to pull a drive by late with the head being the principle point of contact.
This is weird. LEMIEUX was gliding to the net, not striding to throw a hit. DONSKOI runs into LEMIEUX while looking in another direction. Watch their skates from end boards camera. All the momentum is Donakoi’s. Feel bad for him, but all Lemieux did was brace for the hit and hold his ground.

Thats a late hit. If Donskoi got up right away it would just be a penalty. Since he laid on the ground its a suspension. Should just be a major.

See these bumps 50 times a game – no penalty. It did jar the unsuspecting Donskoi but that did appear a big reaction to a light hit. Idk maybe he has had previous concussions?

This merited a fine, not a suspension. I literally see at least 1 hit per game played in the NHL that's worse than that one, but I don't see a few thousand suspensions per season.
I'm just rewatching this now and I honestly cannot understand the tone that you guys are taking. "Run amok"? He barely touched the guy. This is ridiculous. A late hit, sure. But I've seen worse hits in Pee Wee leagues.
Donskoi flopped, it was legit a hit to the shoulder. Look closely, and u can see that lemuix clearly hit the shoulder and not the head….. like I said it was a flop by the avs player…..

After seeing this hit… believe me NHL fans, this was not a rugged hit. The player receiving the hit lay's on the ice complaining.. let me tell you this… if Gordie Howe was on the ice and received the hit .. he would've gotten up and pounded Lemieux.. But now, the league has turned into a bunch of pansies.. Please; Let the players dictate the play and protect themselves.. Not one Rockie came to the defense of the hit player.. What does that tell you ?.. Wake up NHL .. let the boys play…
