In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the Capitals loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stadium Series game. This was a great opportunity on a grand stage to show what the Capitals had in the tank and ultimately came up short. Washington is now in a four-game losing streak and have won just three of the last 10 games. This past was an important week to gage if this team should be buyers or sells as we approach the trade deadline on March 3rd. It’s my belief that given the fact that There are 24 games left in the season and they’re just out of playoff position that the Caps would be best to be sellers. Later Dan talks about if the Capitals are in fact seller who should they move? In the final segment Dan talks about the schedule ahead and how the Capitals need to treat each game as though it’s a must win if they have any hopes of making a push in the playoffs

Even if they do squeak into the playoffs they aren't winning a round. Time to cut their losses.
Today, the Capitals are as they were before the era of Barry Trotz. The team is different, but the game is the same. Barry comes in, and the team regularly plays in the playoffs. The Capitals become a cohesive team, and as a result – victory! So it's about the coach?! Then, by some evil will, the team breaks up. In the future, it was not possible to create a TEAM. Players came and went, but there was no team. There are a lot of questions in all directions – from the organization of the game to comments addressed to the players. For you Americans, the main thing is money, and what about the team, this is the tenth thing. And the money, while there is interest in Ovechkin, is dripping. This interest for 3-4 seasons – then the abyss.
my god it only 1 point
get rid of backstrom at 9 million and slow
It’s time to tear it down to the studs and start a rebuild. Stop burning money on all these vets and get some fresh talent some speed and offense wouldn’t be so bad.
Much is made of the Great 8's scoring abilities and his overall physicality, but, I think, Ovechkin has another component that is just as important, his leadership quality. The shaky start to the Capital's season went from that to a real team effort by Thanksgiving and a promising December. With the advent of Backstrom and Wilson in January, I thought what was happening was another adjustment period. Certainly, the win over Boston, was one of the most exciting games so far this season. I look forward to Ovechkin's return, as much for his leadership as his scoring ability.
