How Do The Oilers Go From Playoff Team To Cup Contender? | One Big Question

With the perhaps most dynamic duo in the league in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and the Western Conference wide open, the Edmonton Oilers have a chance to do damage in the playoffs, but what could vault them from a playoff team to a contender? Well, as TSN’s Mike Johnson and Craig Button explain, a d-man might help, and perhaps even a high-profile one currently playing in San Jose.

  1. Calling them a playoff team is being generous, they're barely holding a wildcard spot.

  2. Maybe waiving/trading 56, 13 and a D man so we can keep Desharnais and also acquiring another big body d man. This team holds on to some players way too long.

  3. Don’t trade Broberg. Bouchard is who I think they should trade, he is the biggest defensive liability on the team.

  4. Trade their 2nd best forward to get 2 Top NHL Pairing D – men, likely the two new Top Pairing D – Men will get the same pay as that the forward is getting.

  5. What you experts have overlooked, is the whole teams commitment to better defence. The forwards need to improve in this area.

  6. Stupid idiotic moves that would be four more years of 11 million dollars stop making dumb decisions for the Oilers if you don't know nothing. That move would totally destroy the organization
