Doesnāt matter how much a goalie gets paid.
If you donāt have defence in front of you, you canāt win.
A goalie isnāt there to steal every single game for you, and by the looks of how Calgary has been playing this season, itās to no surprise heās got below avg stats.
Just because a team scores goals, it doesnāt justify the fact that they can get sloppy in the back end rely on Markstrom.
I just feel, as of late, these attacks on goalies have been a little unjust.

The average goals against averages and save percentages are going down across the league. The things I don't blame the goalie for: tipped shots, screen shots, outnumbered rush caused by defensive breakdowns. You are using 6 million as a reason why someone should be stopping pucks. Maybe if he could pile it all up in cash in front of his net, but that isn't allowed. The Flames suck as a team, you can't blame the goalie.

Last year, he was totally worth every penny of 6 million at .922 . He's been very consistent the last 7 years, actually. Something is going on here that we don't know.
Worst thing is the Flames have arguably the best goalie not in the NHL right now in Dustin Wolf and he won't be called up because reasons.

Goalies seem to be hit and miss. But I thought Rittich should've been given more of an opportunity to establish himself as a starter.
This is one of the few videos where Iām gonna disagree with you. You just said none of the goals were his fault, and by the looks of it, there was little he could do for any of them. But then you said he isnāt allowed to let in 4 goals? What is he supposed to do, ask the flyers to give him a couple slow wristers from the point so he can get his stats up?
