  1. Lol'd at the #1 Lambert fan edit hahah

Amazing work Will, appreciate the depth of your insight!

  2. Nice video. I'd be glad to see Hughes take Wright or Cooley at 1st. Both would be a big step in the right direction for this roster.

  3. I wonder, do you bet on the order of the draft or not? Just saw Cooley odds +1700 for him to be 1st overall, I almost want to take the risk lol. there are other you can bet on, which player between 2 you think will get pick first etc.. Can be fun to you since you study so much the draft.

  4. Watch Lambert go in the second round now which would be a fucking steal.

Like imagine if Montreal got: Wright, another prospect, and THEN Lambert

  5. This was good for what it is. Analytics.

These on ice analytics are all well and good but overrated in the big picture, it has shortcomings and some scouts are getting fooled by just looking at the numbers. There is so much more involved in a player’s development and makeup than just what you see on tape or in a clip.

Analytics don’t cover a player’s personality or characterization – something that is critical for establishing chemistry with certain players in certain dressing rooms and how they get along with others off the ice. Analytics don’t cover a player’s will, drive, ambitions and inspirations…what there life goals are…how they are on the road with travel…his social media involvement…all very important things to learn about who the player really is. Traits like ones adaptability or stubbornness can be pinnacle on how and what they ultimately develop into.

I just find there’s a wealth of knowledge there that only meeting human to human and spending time off the ice and out of the numbers can bring. But I get it, numbers people enjoy getting fixated by their numbers and they kinda just spin around in their fun little world, and that may be all well and good, but it doesn’t defeat the fact they are solely distracted by numbers with those rose coloured glasses and missing the rest of the picture. I guess this is where the amateur scouts have their place and the pros have theirs.

  6. Will, you've just created a whole lot of short videos on different prospects. You could edit these individually and post them to instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or even Tiktok to help grow your channel!

  7. I'll immortalize my ranking, do the same!
1-Jiricek, this kind of RHD pass once every ten year, built to win stanley cup!

2-Yurov, project so much, everything is at high speed, easyness, balance, vision, technichal, size, if he played in the CHL…

3-Cooley, high level speed and execution

4-Lambert, compared to Lucas Raymond, puck possession guy

5-Wright, sorry, agreed, the best talent but not the best awareness, can't cope with that, he would be more useful for his team in the center of the play instead of far from it

6-Geekie, big boy with room to develop in something very big, look slow but separate himself easily from the pressure, big strong legs

7-Gauthier, talented power forward, secure and calm

8-Mintyukov, spectacular, fastest riser of the draft, and usually the fastest riser give good results and fast, work at long peripheral range like a super safety

    9-Savoie, luxury Connor Garland

10-Kasper, in your face type with IQ

11-Kulich, in your face type with speed and talent

12-Kemell, shoot before and talk after type but still very talented, remember me Zadina, could be tough for a while but will success big one day

13-Bystedt, big & skilled with the longest peripheral range of the draft, he covers so much around him, play with easyness

14-Nazar,first half was difficult, improved a lot in second half, speedy and play with autorithy

15-Howard, speed champ of this draft

16-Korchinsky, mobile and agile and know what to do with the puck, top pair defensemen

17-Firkus, dominate at every level he played, fast execution and eye movement guy, will work to the NHL with time

18-Neuchev, big & play with easyness and fun, everything is easy for him on the ice, hidden gem of the draft

19-Slafkovsky, bottom six forward, average execution speed and will partially lose his size advantage in the NHL, still talented and good boy, Charlie Coyle type

20-Mesar, project him at 25, he's going to be a really good player, he is a very talented player, is doing everything perfect but miss strenght for now

21-Trikozov, impossible to remove him from the puck, work with success in close area

22-Nyman, get that guy to the skating coach and we have a chance to get all of a player, puck protection power forward that can pass throught wall of defender

23-Bel Belluz, skilled, balance and vision, can go very far with time

24-Snuggerud, find the net with size but loose the puck for nothing too often, inconsistent, rely on his shot, hit or miss, RW are numerous

25-Lekkerimaki, find the net but still need to be convinced for his high end skills that project as an high end NHL top liner

    26-Ohgren, low floor, middle ceiling

    27-Ostlund, middle floor, high ceiling

28-Rinzel, good projectable RHD with size, yep, we need to get him very high otherwise he's going to be gone, RHD that project is almost impossible to find

29-Nemec, very good with lot of ice and time in power play, but under pressure its difficult for him and NHL dont miss pressure and close spaces, hit or miss

    30-Pickering, smell the NHL

31-Mateychuk,lot of development time to teach him how to play as a defencemen, but high ceiling

32-Lamoureux, RHD this size and this speed never happened before in the NHL, only for top development department team.

  8. Hey Will, big fan of the draft coverage. Just had a question regarding David Goyette, why is his ranking so universally low relative to his production in the OHL. Even taking a look at his team mates he outscored his next closest team mate by 23 points. Is it a defence issue? Or a compete issue? Or is it simply becuase he is listed at 5'10? Just off of highlights and box score stats I'm getting Brayden Point lite vibes.

  9. Cutter Gauthier: "I don't see what people are seeing… – he's big, he's strong.." Oh so you do see why people rank him so high then  NHL do be NHL'ing

great wrapup, love your work Will!

  10. Great analysis. Thanks for the report. I’m not an analytic type but I know that they are important and you do them well. For me I watch the videos and it’s really not hard. As a devils fan we should of picked Rossi over holtz. Pereault over makhamadulin and Brandt Clarke over Hughes. Big mistakes. And knowing their bad direction they will pick slafkovsky before Cooley. Dumb

  11. "If Montreal drafts Wright and they surround him with some speed and skill players….." OR JUST DRAFT COOLEY!!!!

  12. Thanks Will for the great year again, your really enjoying my thursday night, wich are my favorite day of the week because of you! And I can tell that, the Scouching tv show are better than Survivors tv show in my mind, thanks for all!
