intersting that todt president of fia nd braun both involved in 2021
Wow. First time seeing Jac in his mature years.
6:16 His character and smiling face looks similar like Seb's, loool.
I can't wait to see him in nascar next season
Amazing history
I'm impressed with the sportsmanship at the end of the race. Coulthard letting JV through then JV not taking it and then also realizing he should've let Berger through for his last race.
You locked up sliding into that corner purposely knowing what happened the year before and forced shuey off , to me YOU cheated Mr v
Just proves that Michael took Damon out in 94. The man was a bad loser!
6:18 Villeneuve overcooked the corner and locked up the brakes. You can see the right front tire smoke. As Villeneuve himself acknowledges, Schumacher first turned left when he saw Villeneuve. Schumacher then turned right to make the turn…duh. But Villeneuve locked up and they made contact which knocked Schumacher to the left and off the track and in the gravel. Look at Villeneuve's position after the contact…his car is near the edge of the track with no room for Schumacher on his left. This could not have happened if Villeneuve made a normal corner entry and Schumacher deliberately turned right into him. In that scenario, Villeneuve's car would have been near the apex of the turn and Schumacher's car would not have gone into the gravel.
As Villeneuve admits, the Williams team created a narrative before the race that Schumacher would intentionally take Villeneuve out. They said this so many times that it created a narrative that any contact no matter who's fault would be blamed on Schumacher. It's like Yellow Journalism. One side controls the argument and ultimately makes it come true. USS Maine, Gulf of Tonkin, and now Ukraine/Russia are other examples of this. Interestingly, the Williams team went downhill after this and has never won a championship since, while Schumacher would win 5 more and Ferrari would win 6 more as of 2021.
The "whole clan" said by the clown
I cherish the 1997 F1 season not only because it’s my birth year but also because this championship story is incredible! Especially for Jacques and and his father Gilles Villeneuve 🙌🏼🔥
Are you kidding me? I mean why even time the qualifying laps if you're not going to time them accurately, all the way down to the millionth of a second if necessary? Did the FIA seriously think that something like that could never happen or what? That's not even fair….. one of those three drivers had the quickest time I don't care if it was by a hair.
Todt, Ferrari and shumacher of those times the most unsporty in f1
Amoooo. Meu crush eterno
Não esqueço desses olhinhos azuis
People think some of the races are boring nowadays. They obviously didn’t watch F1 during the refueling era dominated by Ferrari. Talk about boring races.
I hope that one day soon, Williams can get back on top. So many new fans don’t even know the half when it comes to Williams. One of the three legacy teams.⭐️
like Michael did to Alonso
Shoutout to David
2:43 😂😂😂
Grandissimo Jacques
Michael is the dirtiest f1 driver I've seen since 1980
He's a well deserved champion. I'd go as far as to say a true champion.
He is so based
Терпеть его всегда не мог , мудак какой то
After Adeleine 1994 Schumi did it again 🤦…
3 pilots 1:21:072, amazing.
Its ironic how things played out.
Villeneuve is now the villian of F1 and Schumacher is the hero (GOAT)
Way back in '97 it was the other way around.
25 years ago today, been an f1 fan ever since!
I love how Jacques and his legendary big mouth played the media beautifully in order to bring the necessary attention that Michael was most likely going to try something unsportsmanlike. Well played JV!
25 years on.
9:28 my guy never got the shot 😂
Served him right. Villneuves victory was absolutely remarkable
I remember this race so vividly. All the Québécois nation was being Jacques… he was lucky though to escape Schumacher perfide ways… Ironic that Ferrari, his father’s team, was his enemy.
The way I see it Villeneuve went a bit straight when side by side, Schumacher was just turning normally but because Villeneuve went straight that's how contact was made and you all blame Schumacher just because of 1994 similar, maybe 1994 was bad but look here, look at Villeneuve's steering wheel at the turn.. I'm not even rooting anyone just saying my perspective on it from both onboard cameras.
so rein stechen ist ja auch nicht ok… 😀 naja darum war danach Villeneuve nur noch ein furz im winde ->

8:12 there is so much emotion on Jean Todt’s face there.
One title… was is 7 for shumi… im glad you enjoyed your 15 mins
Fun fact: Villeneuve and Schumacher never shared a podium that season
To get a standing ovation from the entire pitlane has to be one of the biggest honors a driver can get.
wow, schumacher and ferrari were pure poison
Such a great F1 story!
Villeneuve never makes that corner if Schumacher is not there… he used Schumacher as a brake.
The Williams was the much better car
One of the best days of F1 !! Villeneuve hero against Shumy … woo Shumy, Villeneuve not is Hill kkkkkk 🏆🏆🏆
Senna drove with his heart
Schumacher drove with his head
Martin Brundle
