I don’t know if Meier is actually what we need…

    Would rather get a defenseman

Not a chance they part with their own pick for him but if an extension was part of the deal and they only lost the rangers or leafs pick, a long term forward core of Buch, Thomas, Kyrou, Meier, Schenn plus a 2023 top 10 pick certainly doesn’t sound terrible.

Meier would be a great addition for a team that needs some help scoring. Unfortunately what we need is help defending. We’re regularly giving up 3 goal periods. How does Meier fix that problem?

No way Army trades for a rental player in a “tank” year unless there is a guarantee Meier signs with us. Unless he and/or his agent were able to make it clear that STL is a place he would sign a team friendly LTC with, I wonder if this is just “say something to get clicks”.

Fix the defense first or it won’t matter at all

Imagine Army trading for Meier AND Chychrun (or your preferred D you’d think would help fix/change our defense) he would be a mad man. Doubt it happens but Army has pulled off some crazy trades before so anything is possible.

  7. Insert the “call the ambulance, but not for me” Army meme.

I’d be down for this with an extension in place

The discussion I was hearing on 101 yesterday was around how basically none of our top 4 D are tradeable until 2025. Without being able to trade someone out, you can’t push more money into defense acquisitions right now. So, for 2024, it makes sense to focus on scoring (and probably not be very good again) and then work on the revamping the defense in 2025 when you have more flexibility to move people out of the top 4 as well as in.

Just doesn’t make a ton of sense. We’ve got some good forwards coming up in the next few years. Maybe to jumpstart the “retool”?

If we give up our own 1st round pick at the deadline then it’s probably not going to be a T10 anymore. I’d take Meier on a long-term deal for a pick in the teens.

I wouldn’t trade snuggarud though, and they probably want him.

For everyone complaining about D-men, how do you expect us out of the contracts we have in place? We’re stuck with Krug/Parayko/Leddy long term. Faulk is good so not stuck, so thats 4 defensemen… 3 of those are 6.5m a year. Let’s say you add an upgrade, pushes Leddy down to 3rd pairing. You’re now paying 4m for a 3rd line defensemen.

  13. Not what I expected to hear today but there is something to be said about getting a proven player versus a late 1st Rd lottery ticket. Not sure how they make the money work though. Have to send a contract back to the Sharks and expect to resign him to a longer term deal.

We need to fix our D or nothing is going to change.

Ya know at this point i’m just gonna sit back and see what Doug does because I don’t know how the fuck we’re out here pursuing Meier now with our D the way it is but lets just all inhale the copium that its part of some grand master plan and get hyped. That’s what i’m doing at least lol

The Blues need to stop doing this to us. Just embrace the rebuild.
