  1. Great show Gil. Ok let’s address the trade Sorokin comment, who and what wins games ? Goaltending. You don’t trade a goalie that can win you games when you’re team isn’t playing well. Sorokin is hands down the team mvp no matter how they finish. Onto JGP, I wouldn’t trade him unless the haul in return is good, he wins faceoffs, he checks and he’s a playmaker, you move him onto the 2nd line. Now let’s talk about Barzy, he is not a center, when he plays RW he is more disciplined and doesn’t figure skate as much as he does when he plays center, they still gotta work on having him shoot more often and stop turning the puck over. I’d see if there is a market for Lee, if it’s good, he’s outta here, Horvat gets the C next season and move on from him, he’s shown that he’s not captain material. I really couldn’t care less about what the isles have done for the communty, I’m not watching them for that, I’m watching cuz I enjoy hockey and hope the isles will someday get back to the great teams I saw in the late 70s and 80s. Mayfield has lost my confidence, he’s not an offensive Dman and never will be, he’s gotten cocky since scoring a few goals off the RW when pinching, he doesn’t have a slapshot either ! Romanov first week with the team was good, it’s been below average since, if there’s a decent package for him, move him. Bailey, trade him or send him to Bport, Clutter needs to retire or find another team, his time is over here. I’m sorry, maybe I should try these moves on PS4 first and see how they workout ! 😂

  2. I Still want to trade Nelson for 1st, 2nd, and a young player that's playing in the NHL. Varly for a 1st, Mayfield 1st or 2nd! further insuring us falling to 11th or under on the draft board! CAP SPACE AND ASSETS! Lou could have himself a summer that could turn out to be one of the greatest turnaround we have seen in… Jesus, Forever!!! Lou's reluctantce to think beyond these last 20 something games is so frustrating! Lou came in and turned this franchise around, but now he's just sabotaging his short Islanders legacy! Is "arm chair" GM's are on to something here!

  3. idk that goal Brock Nelson scored against the pens was awesome. he won the all star accuracy contest and I can see why

  4. HI Gil. This is quite the conundrum for isles. Not only is one playoff spot there for the taking two are. And pens and caps are playing like shit right now and look like age has finally caught up to them so why shouldn't isles go for that playoff spot? That is lou's thinking. Two spots, four teams gonna battle for it. I don't think sabres have enough and probably wont make a crazy tdl move to get in. The team to watch out for is the wings. Det. is playing some good hockey right now and just finished a 4-1 road trip handling caps in d c 4-1 and are now three pts. behind isles and two behind fla. with four games in hand. And with wings within reach of playoffs yzerman wont be in sell mode. He'll look to make a move to bolster wings. That's why if isles decided to move nelson now (even though lou wont) while he is hot with high trade value wings would be a good trade partner. They need a good no. two center and have the assets to make a deal and would give det. insurance at center if larkin leaves as ufa. Maybe bertuzzi (no a non-conformer)/vrana could be part of a deal? And jpg we know lou loves should seriously be considered. His value will only go down after this season and wrong side of 30 plus fragile too. Isles should eat some of this year's salary with ltir room to do a deal. Isles can't trade both nelson and jpg which leaves too much of a hole at center. Varly definitely should be moved. Could get a first/good prospect for varly. Mayfield as well. A second i hear is the going rate now. Maybe a desperate team will throw something else in to make a deal. Isles not gonna finish in bottom 12 at this point so their first is gone. They could at least re-coup a first for varly and add a second and a prospect(s) for their ufa's. The question is what could jpg get isles? And would lou do it if it got isles another first/good prospect or young player while retaining some salary this season? Lou doesn't seem to weigh risk/reward or when a players value is high type of trades. And i know i brought that one up last week but that would be a way to re-tool on the fly and add some youth/picks/prospects to the system. Not like isles still can't make playoffs with two wild card spots up for grabs. I have seen that before where a team unloads players to re-tool/re-build and still makes the playoffs. I believe blues in '19 were at bottom of standings and moved a few guys out at tdl. They kept Pietrangelo and got hot and won the cup. Oh who are we kidding? Lou will just ride it out with 'his guys' until they are all in the old age home with him. And on the prospect front isle G prospect t. lennox was ohl goalie of the week for second time this season. And i loved patty L. At least bow tie turned him into sneaky pete and the trade that transformed isles into team that knocked off heavily favoured pens in '93. Patty L./ziggy palffy should both get a piece of #16 in rafters. Good show once again.

  5. I love all Islanders players BUT next three games are MUST for as to have any playoff. chances if we don't got 4 -6 points then we are dunne…I will gladly trade Nelson , wright now he is hot probably we can got good retern for him…

  6. This team has NO chance of winning a cup. All they can do is beat a falling Penguins team. Lou's pipe dreams have been killing us for a couple of years now. Varly needs to go for prospects and picks. Lou needs to try to move Pageau, and Palmieri. He should also trade Mayfield with the clear understanding we want him back next year. If he can move Cizikas, do it. The vaunted 'identity line' is dead. Clutterbuck is worn out, as is Palmieri. If we want to become a scoring team, we need to pick up some goal scorers.

  7. Often, in all sports, it seems that getting to the playoffs is more important than being honest about whether getting there really gets you anywhere. So I have been thinking about that very subject. Much like the Jets with Ryan coaching that got to the AFC Championship game two years running, the Isle severely teased us after a pretty long weak playoff stretch with 2 trips to conference finals. I certainly have fallen into the trap thinking the same core team is predominantly present why can't we do it. I tend to blame it on player heart more than anything else. I also realize players are getting older. Some pieces have left that I think played hard on some of the guys (like Barzal losing Eberle as a winger). I would take Devon Toews and Nick Leddy over Mayfield and Romanov any day. I digress. Maybe we should be looking to the future and start doing something about it now. I think it will be extremely hard to make the playoffs and we will all be sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for results of all those games in hand of other teams knowing we didnt actualy do it we need there help. So then what? We get in as a 6 seed and get swept by Boston? If we do get in I am hoping that the simple nature of playoff hockey, which we all know is a different animal from regular season play, could give us a boost becasue we have shown it in the past. That being said I might be convinced to trade no playoffs this year for more certain and deeper plaoyoff potantial going forward. Tough spot.
