Simon Edvinsson got off to a tough start in his rookie campaign with the Grand Rapids Griffins. Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2021, Edvinsson made his AHL rookie debut this season (2022-23) in Grand Rapids. Overcoming the mental battles and adjusting well now, Edvinsson is on track to exceed his production during his time in the SHL and has become one of the most trusted defensemen in the system.
We take a good look at his progress thus far, his biggest areas of improvement and just what his future could look like within the organization.

I think Yzerman is concerned about him putting on some weight so he can handle the hits in the NHL
