The Pittsburgh Penguins are coming off perhaps their most embarrassing loss of the season over the weekend against the San Jose Sharks and Hunter has a lot to say about it. He starts the show by going over the main reasons for the loss, including how this team has a weird ability of not starting games on time or ending periods on time. Hunter goes over some potential reasons for that while slamming the Penguins for their horrendous defensive zone coverage throughout the game. He looks at several plays where the Penguins were leaving Sharks players wide open in front of the net and why that’s been a problem all season. He also didn’t like how Casey DeSmith played on the fourth and fifth goals as those are saves that he probably should’ve made. After that, Hunter looks at how even the New York Islanders are making win-now moves now that they have Bo Horvat and makes sure to drive the message home that the Penguins need to do something. A change is needed to spark this team after they’ve been way too inconsistent all season long. Finally, Hunter ends the show with what improvements he’s looking for from the Penguins in the second half, both systems-wise and player-personnel-wise.

Hunter, I don't have an answer either for the lack of attention to detail and slow starts. I've asked myself all season and we are more than halfway through and I don't know. I could tell Saturday Night listening to Mike Sullivan's post game, he has no answer either. He just looks and sounds like a coach who is just completely frustrated at this point. It's like as a coach, what can you do? You can switch lines, switch d-pairs, deliver a message on how you have to play, but at the end of the day it's on the players to execute.
I also agree, I think the pressure is on Hextall now to do something, and I think he will. I've been reading different trade targets that could be options for the Penguins: Max Domi was one, possibly Nick Bonino returning to The Penguins, Timo Meier is out there he's been linked to several teams I don't know if they have the assets to get someone like Meier though. Getting Timo Meier would be a grand slam and everyone would forgive Ron Hextall if he were to acquire Timo Meier from the Sharks, like I said I don't know if they have the assets and they have to clear enough cap space.
A very interesting one, was Thatcher Demko from the Vancouver Canucks was linked to The Penguins in an article I read today while I was on a break at work.
I would argue Beauvillier or whatever is younger and better than Kap. I would trade cap for him and you’d prob have to throw Ty Smith in to get them to do it. But absolutely agreed they need to make moves
