  1. Shannon, the Hershey Bears with coach Todd Nelson a play defense first system(sort of like a modern Jaque Lemaire Devils team). They lead the AHL in GA/GAA, but are below average in goal scoring(but they do get clutch scoring). Basically CMM/HL/AP offensive numbers are going to be lower #'s for the season.

  2. What cha gonna do
(When there ain't nowhere to hide)?
    When judgement comes for you
(And there ain't nowhere to hide),
    Say what cha gonna do
    (What cha gonna dooo)?

  3. While watching isles and Pitt the other night they said Pittsburgh is the second oldest team in the NHL and that kinda blew my mind. It doesn’t show. Something just isn’t clicking in Washington. All the more apparent unfortunately with Ovi being gone. That five minute major against I feel you could make a whole video on.

  4. Caps making the playoffs and winning the cup. You heard it here first. 😂I mean maybe you did. But yeah, forget the bullcrap and LETS GO CAPS!

  5. But how do you rebuild with the goal record looming? They got their Cup, now the goal has to be getting Ovie the record. Then you can look at a rebuild. It's a unique situation but you have to do everything you can right now to ensure that he gets that record.

  6. You make a convincing argument, and I completely agree, which is why I don't think any of this will happen lol

  7. Wonderfully done Shannon, all I have to add is that the Caps have been tooling Wilson to be the next 'guy'. IF you mean Captain and locker room guy after Ovi. If you mean skill wise? You are 100% correct in that we don't have anyone ready to fill those skates.

  8. The east is getting tougher each year, if they don't do something soon it could be a long time out of the playoffs

  9. Washington needs to be looking at how to get competitive before the Ovechkin Backstrom era is over because it isn't this season. But they have an opportunity if they sell here, get a new coaching staff this summer and focus on next year – they can get back into contention next year. They need some help on the blue line and some secondary scoring but a lot of pieces are in place. Ovechkin, Backstrom and Wilson are still going to be there. Strome and Milano just got new deals. Carlson and Fehervary will be there next year. Goaltending is solid and under contract. Just need to fill out the depth and get some guys like Protas in for Eller.

  10. The Rangers did it right? That's a bit generous. It's easy to do it right when you luck into a first overall pick, have Panarin take less money to play for your team, and have Fox decide that he will only sign with your team. We're not talking that they had years of misery. I live in the market and the retool or rebuild took, like, 2 years. That's undoable for most teams.

  11. Mantha to StLouis for Parayko. Kuznetsov to Minnesota at the Draft. Backstrom, Strome, Protas, Dowd, McMichael and Lapierre down the middle makes Kuznetsov expendable. If St.Louis is giving away Parayko to get out from under the contract and if Washington does lose Orlov – then it would be a cheap acquisition to trade our bad contract for theirs. Mantha only has this upcoming season left at $5.9m

  12. I'll die on the hill that letting Trotz walk cost us another cup. We wasted two years with a similar roster with Todd Rierden and his awful scheme. I don't think Lavi has done a bad job with what he's been given, but GMBM has been handing out a lot of bad contracts for a while that are catching up to them now.

As for McMichael he looked night and day different when he was allowed to play Center vs when they put him at wing. Most of his NHL time has been at wing because we've had a log jam at center for a while. Especially with Backy coming back.

  13. hard agree, would have liked to see some snively and laviolette and power play discussions as well, but very well said. I also would like to point out that not only have the capitals had meh drafting, but their development isnt the best, stephenson is so much better in vegas, sammy and vitek are better in their respective teams, and vrana was better in detroit for a certain period of time. Laviolette would also rarely give younger players ice times I dont know if you knew this but he would rarely give mcmichael or hendrix lapierre any ice time no matter how high up in the lineup they played. He even sort of does this with strome milano snively (not NAK for some reason althought sometimes he does it) but to a lesser extent. wouldnt be surprised if this is laviolettes (and hopefully blaine forsythe's as well) last year here, the only problem being I don't know who I'd hire as a new coach, my heart wants trotz but i know its not likely. anyways good video!

  14. Great analysis. Could see Sheary and/or Jensen fitting in with the Lightning for their run if the Caps end up selling.

  15. I don’t see many options on improving the forward lines.

Ovechkin (not getting traded unless he wants out, highly unlikely)

Kuznetsov, Backstrom, Oshie, Mantha* (likely untradeable due to cap hit/term)

Strome, Milano (already re-signed to multi-year extensions)

Wilson, Hathaway, Dowd (high energy players I feel the team should keep)

Eller, Sheary, Johansson, Aube-Kubel, Brown, Hagelin (UFA’s, no need to keep any)

McMichael, Lapierre, Protas, Suzdalev, Miroschnichenko (need to decide if they are NHL players that can make an impact, or just a player with potential who could be thrown into a trade to get rid of a bad contract.

  16. Yoooo, lol, this thumbnail picture made me realize something, I think Alex Ovechkin is a Russian spy, he plays for the "WASHINGTON" capitals and goes back and forth to Russia freely, what a perfect 007 type agent

  17. You were making a lot of sense for the whole video, but at the end when you suggested they build cap space to sign Pasta, it all came together! Yes, this! Caps need a 5v5 goal scorer to complement Ovi's PP production. There is absolutely no point to hang on to all those UFAs just to try to make the playoffs and get bounced in the first round against Boston. Get value for them now, please! I think at least Eller is going, but I hope to see more go. Pasta + a stable full of young prospects would be the best one could hope for. Otherwise the team is going to age out, bottom out, and you will have to completely blow it up.

  18. the rangers did it right?? lol you're joking, right? handed a Norris dman and 1OA & 2OA… literally handed gifts to get better immediately

  19. Big ovi fan but he can’t expect the team to keep icing the leagues oldest team just for the record
