This team is getting healthy, getting used to system and working hard. Fun to watch. They actually support each other all over the ice. Make it or not this season has been a huge success for our rebuild.

Playoffs or not, the fact that they are in the playoff hunt has me so hyped. I said at the start of the season if they are fighting for a wildcard spot and get bumped at the very end this season is still a success.

Even though it’s going to be cloudy and cool outside today- it’s bright and sunny in my life because of the Red Wings win over the NYRs.
Wednesday night until last night at about 11pm we were totally dead in the water.
No power, no internet and no cell service. Talk about anxiety. If it was just me and my wife – no big deal, however when you add two toddlers into the mix not having access to communication was stressful.

Just from watching awood’s highlights, I’m perplexed how there was no high sticking against the rangers when they hit Mo in the face, how Ras gets an extra penalty after being crosschecked by a second man in, and how Walman gets a 5 minute fighting for not even dropping gloves and holding on to the biggest bust in recent history.

Cool little personal collecting milestone I’m just now realizing I hit. I have rookie cards of over 500 different Red Wings. Number 500 would have been from a lot of 1951-52 Parkhurst I bought, so whichever name between Metro Prystai, Marty Pavelich, Bill Gadsby, Vic Stasiuk, Leo Reise, Tony Leswick, Benny Woit, Glen Skov, or Pete Babando sticks out the most can lay claim to the title. 501 was bought today and it was Earl “Dutch” Reibel on a 1953-54 Parkhurst. There’s only 6 (soon to be 8) players since 1990 that I don’t have yet and 8 (soon to be 10) since 1980, so most of what I “need” is 70s or older.

Seems like Raymond won’t make it into the lineup tomorrow based on the practice lines Ansar tweeted. I’m curious how a for “true day-to-day” injury suddenly becomes two plus weeks and they don’t realize that from the start?
I wouldn’t mind adding Luke Schenn. Vancouver is in a fire sale he is a UFA. I bet we could get him for a 2nd – 3rd round pick, he would solidify our D and bring toughness.
Defense is improving. System is finally being executed. Husso stellar. I have to admit I thought that Wings as a team would struggle with this system and I and happy to be wrong.
I asked earlier this week but just in case, if anyone is going to the game tomorrow and gets an extra Razor bobblehead, I’ll gladly pay the shipping to get it!

I could see us sending Lindstrom+pick to Vancouver for Schenn. Anyone scoffing at that hasn’t paid attention to Schenn this year.
We might even get crazy and mix Minnesota in. Retain 50% of Vrana salary and get Foligno in return, we send Vancouver a lower pick and Minnesota sends Vancouver a pick as well. Wings are down Vrana (2 yrs left), Lindstrom (expiring) and a mid to late pick to get Schenn and Foligno. Salary cap is basically a wash across the board with Minnesota picking up some scoring help.

The only thing “bad” about being in a playoff race is that we have a lesser chance of seeing Edvinsson being called up for a 9 shame showcase to get NHL experience and slide an ELC year 🙁

Didn’t think the top line was great yesterday but we’re now 17-6-3 with Bert. Something about the guy but we are a much better team with him in the line up. That’s .711 (37 pts) hockey over 26 games. (3rd best in hockey pace)
11-15-5 without him. Thats .435 (27pts) over 31 games. (28th best in hockey pace)

Not to trot this out again because i have full confidence in vrana, but i don’t think I’ve heard anyone suggest that his time in the PAP was due to the meds he might have been on while rehabbing big injuries. It’s a dark area of the sport no one talks about.
Obviously, i have only speculation. I don’t even know if he was on meds. But i was wondering that today.
