This is basically a playoff game. 2 points in regulation and we’re in an awesome spot. Going to overtime wouldn’t be ideal but would hurt them more than us.
Edit: Barkov and Bennett are both out. No excuse to not win.
If we can win this and the caps game in regulation, the boys will be in an amazing spot. This game most likely gets chippy too since tkachuk most likely does something to get under our skin.
Need this one and for everyone else to fuck off.
Need to temper expectations tonight. Last night was a long one with all of the cheap shots TB was taking. Just steal a point and get some rest for Washington.
I’m curious to see how the Sabres come out tonight. They’ve had a pattern this year of following emotional highs with a drained effort the next day. Hopefully we have a game where we don’t give up 5 goals.
I played hockey for a while (amateur) and I’ve watched it my whole life – it’s tough for me to pin down exactly what happens to the Sabres defensively. It seems for like 10-15 minutes every game – everyone just starts chasing the puck and losing position.
One thing I’ve always been impressed with Tampa is how fucking good with positioning they are in the offensive and neutral zone. It’s like a mind-meld thing they’ve got going.
Hope they give a good effort tonight!

Panthers missing a bunch of people, sound about right for a big bob standing on his head shut out outa no where.
Random but i was bored and have been watching/attending games for most of this exciting, young Sabres team so far this season. The way too early top 5 (imo) Sabres games so far:
5. The Halloween beatdown vs Detroit: Tage’s sudden contract justification (even though it was justified since November of last season), a “hey, we might have something here” game.
4. Miller night vs NYI: a great celebration and ceremony for an all-time Buffalo legend, then a 3rd period comeback in a back-and-forth close game followed by the saucer from hell from Dahlin to end it.
3. Last night vs TBL: a hat-trick for Tommer, a near choke job against the best home team in hockey for the past 5+ years (the only reason it’s not higher on the list), the refs blatantly trying to get TBL a win, then BOOOOOOSH in OT!
2. OT winner in Boston: a late goal on a gorgeous glitch pass from Dahlin to Tuch then Cozens in the 3rd period to tie it against one of the best regular season teams of all time in their building. Then Cozens & Tuch closing it out in OT to seal it. FUCK BOSTON!
Honorable mentions:
Wins in Edmonton & Calgary early in the season
OT winner in Washington (realistically should be #5 but I was at the Halloween game)
Dishonorable mentions:
The streak of games from Nov 4th to Nov 19th which I shall not mention the results of.

1. OT thriller vs Minnesota: another high flying, barn burner ending with a win for Buffalo. Dahlin’s game tier with 2 mins left in the 3rd followed by Ollie’s winner in OT (GIMME GIMME GIMME A MAN AFTER MIDNIGHT)
The Panthers are missing their top two centers. Please don’t screw this up.
