The Penguins Have FAILED Sidney Crosby | Grav's Spicy Takes

  1. What Do YOU Think the Penguins should do NEXT? And Can they WIN Another Cup with Crosby? Let Us Know! šŸ‘‡

  2. Itā€™s quite clear Pens are mentally defeated at this point. Their season might be over unless they revive mentally asap.

  3. Pens should start trading big names while they can and go for 1 round picks. The way Sullivan is making Malkin play cost the pens a lot too. How many times I see Malkin on the ice for 30-40 seconds and a penalty is called for the opposing team and Malkin stays on the ice. He also stays on for most of the PP. I rather have a less good player to start the power play if malkin is out of breath. This is crazy that the coach doesn't see or realize this. The only way Malkin could stay on the ice for that long is if he plays like OVY. Stay at the point and don't move until the puck comes to you for a one timer. LOL

  4. Hextal need to jettison that 3rd line. Bring up some AHL guys to fill the hole or bring some cheap pieces back. Whoever you bring in canā€™t be worse but they can be less expensive

  5. The reason the penguins acquired Jeff Petry is to be a secondary option when Letang is out of the lineup. While he does make a little more than he should, so does John Marino, and while Marino is very solid defensively, he is more than lacking offensively since his rookie season. Jeff Petry has a better all around game and during the playoff series vs. the Rangers the Pittsburgh defense was horrible and that is why it was overhauled this past offseason. Also it is important to mention that in return for Marino the Penguins got Ty Smith, a defenseman with a very strong offensive game after Marino came off one of his worst seasons thus far on the NHL. While the devils have been great and Marino has been good for them and had a great start to the season, he has not played in a way that I think makes this trade regrettable for the Penguins currently. Also in the Petry deal they really only traded a bad contract in Mike Matheson who was a black hole defensively. You are absolutely correct when you say the third line has been awful this season and all three contracts for the players are a large overpayment. However I would like to hear your thoughts on how they can fix the problem and not just how bad it has been this season. Also the Penguins have not betrayed Sidney Crosby in any way as they have been one of, if not the best team in the NHL collectively over the last 16 years. While they should be playing better, there is no reason to act like the penguins have destroyed their franchise and their star talents just because they have been inconsistent this year and are currently a few points out of a playoff spot with multiple games in hand over other teams surrounding them.

  6. My Penguins have had so many problems since 2018 that I could create an encyclopedia about it. The blue line is a leaky facet, the bottom 6 has had no consistent scoring whatsoever, and the goaltending has been a revolving door since Fleury got moved. Can you imagine how different this Penguins team would have been from 2018-2020 specifically had we not sent Fleury to Vegas? Murray did win the team a championship in Fleury's absence and Jarry has been elite when he has played. However, since Jarry has failed to stay healthy for about 2 seasons now and nothing Pittsburgh has done to improve its D has worked, the Penguins have needed to rely on the thin forward group to win games. Please Penguins, learn from Detroit and move your valuable assets before it is too late.

  7. It'll never happen, but if Sidney signed with the Capitols. He doesn't stand a chance of breaking any of Gretzky's records. But to tally the assist on the shot that breaks the goal-scoring record? That'll be remembered.

  8. Crosby is still a top player and I agree. I think the Pens need a shake up in the locker room in some way, shape or form. idk how but something needs to change cause Sid should still be competing for Cups

  9. Part of the problem, with the Pens, is Sid's fault. He's the one who politicked for the team to resign Letang and Malkin, even hinting that he would not resign with the team, after his contract ended, if they didn't resign his buddies.
Sure, Kris and Geno have put some points up, but they have been very detrimental to the team, on defense, costing the team six games in regulation, and two in OT, just on defensive zone turnovers, alone. That's a 14 point swing. They could have used that 13+ Million to pursue younger players with similar skill levels.
All in all, team defense has been absolutely horrible, with Jarry and DeSmith facing an average of just over 44 shots per game, with 13 high danger shots. The team has 12 players on the negative side of +/-, with Letang being the worst at -15. Carter at -11, and Malkin at -10.

  10. Sports have a cycle going from good to bad and vice versa depending on where they start.. you don't expect them to stay on top forever..

  11. That game against Edmonton really exposed how bad the penguins are currently. The offense wasn't good, getting just 24 shots. The defense wasn't good, allowing 44 shots. The goaltending was not good, allowing 7 goals. This seems like the downfall of Pittsburgh.

  12. Get this kid off of sportsnet. I get enough squeaky screaming into the camera from SteveDangle. My eardrums cant handle another steve dangle basement dweller wannabe

  13. Trade Malkin for a good forward and some picks. It will be better for Malkin and Penguins. He's the only tradeable they have. Thank Hextall.

  14. You say weā€™ve failed an old Crosby and act like we should be winning the cup every year you donā€™t realize itā€™s not that easy look at the oilers who have the two best players in the league in their prime and canā€™t win anything
