  1. Questions. 1: Chris Hadfield is a Leaf fan? Cool. 2, 3 and 4: How did Hadfield know this stat existed and how did he dig it up and how does he have the time to chase after such an obscure stat? 😊

  2. too bad Alex Nylander is a Bust, could you imagine if he wasnt and playing with Willie like they did for Team Sweden. Willie is going to crush his dad's NHL records when he is said and done, i watched his dad play and he was a good player too,That OT Goal Was Sicker Than Sick, they way he lost the puck and only too get it back and go around the D and pull the puck back in so the goalie couldnt poke the puck off Willie's stick and Smash it Home, Thats What We See From Mattews Doing close in,Willie Has Stepped His Game Up Forsure This Year, i Said At The Beggining Of The Year He Would Get 40 This Year And He is 7 goals away with 23 Games Left. he is also 2 goals away from setting a Career High.I Think This Play offs He Will Be Magicical.

  3. That was a classic Willy styles goal right there. Willy, Papi, Mitchy, Johnny, and Mo will all have their jersey numbers in the rafters when it’s all said and done

  4. If Tavares gets 10 more points this season he will also be added to that list of 70 points + in consecutive seasons.

  5. Me : But Darryl Sittler hit 70+ consecutively 9 times.
Steve : I said in the last 30 years.
Me : forgot I was so old… thanks Steve.

  6. THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS are built like a team of super heroes.

MORGAN REILLY – THE CAPTAIN – Longest tenured Maple Leaf.

MARK GIORDANO – THE WALL – Stands in front of everything blocking shot after shot after shot.

MITCH MARNER – THE MAGICIAN – Scores goals, kills penalties, lethal short handed, the master of assists. Marner’s master play is a thing of beauty and gets my vote for the most skilled player on this team.

MICHAEL BUNTING – THE HYENA – That annoying presence on ice and off the ice which is constantly getting under the other’s teams nerves. Though not the most skilled he can still burn you with his attack and drive opponents nuts while doing so.

WILLIAM NYLANDER – THE SERPENT – Nylander is lethal. He slithers in and out of the opposition and strike at any moment inflicting that lethal bite on the opposing team.

PIERRE ENGVALL – THE CENTAUR – His wide stride propels him across the ice.

RASMUS SANDIN – THE SWEDE – He is Swedish.

    JUSTIN HOLL – THE GIRAFFE

    DAVID KAMPF – THE GHOST

JOHN TAVARES – THE ROCK – The net master who knocks in shots from the point while standing in front of the goal tender.

AUSTON MATTHEWS – THE SNIPER – From the wing or the slot, the shot is coming and its, coming fast.

WAYNE SIMMONDS – THE VICTIM – Claims he is oppressed while making millions of dollars.

KYLE DUBAS – THE OPRAH – You get a draft pick. You get a draft pick. You get a draft pick. Everybody gets a draft pick, except the Leafs.

  7. Well, Steve, you are going to hear this a lot … but the last 30 years is not the same as ever.

  8. Lol the reason most of us non Leaf fans have been saying for years to trade Nylander for defensive help is not at all because we devalue him or his abilities, its simply that he has always been the best of the 3 young guys to move. He makes less money then the other two young guns and although he has always put up numbers he has traditionally be in a more protected playing position then the other two. He faces teams non checking lines for the most part as those have been used against Mitch and that other young fella. He has never disappointed imo, and it is openly acknowledged that losing him would be a significant loss up front… but what a trade chip the kid could be. The ship has sailed on that one though and nobody in the fandom will ever know if that was ever really thought about, if there was ever a dance partner with some stud top 4 defense to even consider it in the first place. Either way if they have a good run this season Leaf fans will call Dubas a genius for sticking to his guys, and if they don't people will say that is a mistake Management made. I think they need some help in their own end, either from in house or by trade, and The goaltending is just ok. Perhaps Murray is resting something that he would just play through in the playoffs, knowing that safety net existed would do wonders there. Either way its pretty meaningless games for the Leaf's for a while yet. Soon the fun begins. 🙂

  9. Kyle, we need a tough left winger with decent hands for Matthew's line, and a Luke Shenn type Dman . Get er done! Go Leafs Go!

  10. How many leafs have back to back 80 Point seasons in franchise history? We might see something special before season’s end.

  11. The anti-Nylander boomers are still anti-Nylander, and it has nothing to do with his play. He's pretty and Swedish. If he were ugly and from fuckin' Brantford they'd be lining up to ride him, lets be honest.

  12. The Beatles Leafs

    John – Matthews
    Paul – Marner
    George – Tavares
    Ringo – Nylander

    Billy Preston – O'Reilly

  13. Had to look it up, Kessel only really misses 3 year run because of the lockout. 82/52/80 and the 52 as in 48 games. Had a good shot to be on that list.

  14. I don't understand the last question about what the "Boomers" think about Willie? Please explain…

  15. Wow, those 70 points in a season stats really suck. I mean, given all that time a damn zamboni driver could probably accomplish it 😉

  16. Willy is a different beast this season.
I don't want to hear the "he's lazy" argument anymore.

  17. Johnny T. is about to hit the 70-point mark in back-to-back seasons as well.
Four of the six Leafs players ever to do that are on this roster.
    Dope.

  18. hi steve! just gotta say thank you for your words about pride night. mainstream hockey fan circles online (where i consume the majority of my hockey content as my country is not one where it's a popular sport) can be very hostile places when you're LGBTQ+ and hearing those words from someone like you is more encouraging than you know. i hope i get to be in one of those buildings one day, witnessing the magic i've only seen through screens, and i hope i get to do it with tolerant and accepting people like yourself 🙂

  19. I have been a Nylander fan from the beginning. I have had to endure the countless degrading and shouts of ' trade the bum' by so called Leaf's fans. Big shout out to the dude that I met at the checkout line at the beginning of the season, where we had a 'discussion' on this very topic and as we were about to part company, I turned to his wife and asked her to ask him at seasons end, how Willy did this year. Still mad about the contract that had very little to do with Willy and more to do with his agent and his Dad, Michael, get over it. Go Zack! so proud, so happy for him and Go Leafs Go…
