  1. Where’s all the dip shits that thought sending Vrana to Grand Rapids was part of some master plan to get him back into shape now?

  2. Red Wings have a bunch of players that could be on a Championship team but no one that’s going to get you to be a Championship team. Which means most of this roster is exchangeable with any number players you could get through free market or trades so it’s not really worth getting too excited or upset over anything Yzerman does. It’s not like we’re close and only one key player away from being a Cup contender.

  3. Unless the word is out that Vrana is basically done, the Vrana trade was TERRIBLE asset management. Yzerman could have put him on the first line and power play (to pump up his value in the meaningless remaining games) then trade him in the offseason

  4. The problem with Yzerman is he doesn’t think he’s on a time table or has to produce results at all. His press conferences are almost insulting lol. He knows he won’t ever be fired. It’s odd. For me if we don’t make the playoffs next year he’s on notice and should be fired after year 5 if we are still not moving forward.

  5. The writing was on the wall when Erne and Chiasson were brought up instead of Soda. We don't have the talent to compete against most teams and the organization isn't really going to try. Obviously, this isn't saying the players won't put forth effort.

  6. It’s clear that Yzerman was true to his word, and is making this team/organization a competitor for the playoffs and cup for years to come!

  7. Stevie isn't trying to get into the playoffs for just this year, next year or for 10 years in a row. He is interested in creating a dynasty that can win a number of cups and being very good for a long time. Furure draft picks for current players may be Stevie's way of creating a long term plan for solid success.
Trust the man, trust the plan.

  8. I dont know if you guys have talked about it much, but Raymond is sophomore slumping hard this season. He has been invisible most nights.

  9. The Mantha trade was still an all time fleece regardless of Vrana! I would have taken just a second round pick to dump Mantha and his salary! Not sure what happened to Mantha he seemed disinterested and lazy on the ice after he signed his deal and that has just continued in Washington. But to also get a first round pick as well!?! Even without a player this trade was a steal! Much less what Yzerman turned them into per the trade tree you guys broke down!

  10. They were wrecked in Ottawa and it's play out the string. I never saw a Red Wing team get bullied and cowed like that ever. Even in their worst years guys still stood up. They were shamed and since then they' ve mailed it in.

  11. Speaking about Vrana and him clearing waivers. With so many teams with little cap space taking a chance on him would be a big gamble.
Zadina on the top line? News flash Detroit has no "Top Line"

  12. I said it a few days ago; Bertuzzi and Vrana were both distractions and the team (especially the young players) shouldn’t have to deal with that.

  13. Brian, please change your intro for Built Bars. The holidays you're referring to are long over. Thanks so much. Love the show guys.

  14. Thanks for the episode gents. this is a rough part of the year where the games are meaningless and they’re just losing for a higher draft position. Appreciate y’all staying positive because things certainly are not positive right now

  15. You guys really need to change the trajectory of your discussion. Of course everyone is dissapointed the wings are not going to the play offs. But after watching them in Ottawa I really wouldn't have wanted to see them in a series with Boston, that would have been brutal and our draft would be lower. The best thing they can do right now is loose. Yes higher draft picks to help your chances of success. Stevie's first round picks are all on track to being good long term roster players, even Cossa is now playing really well. Did you really think it would take less than 5-8 years to become a legit playoff team? The wings were in a really bad place when he took over.
The timing of Vrana going into player assistance program says a lot to me. If you do have a real problem why wait to the season has already started for a week. Anyone that has dealt with those type issues knows that it doesn't just happen so quickly. Anyway he is now gone, move on, it doesn't really matter why.

  16. I disagree with the sentiment that you want to see the Wings win this year. Im more of the mindset that its better to get a higher draft pick. They are at the point of unwatchable, unfortunately. Tank away, wings, Tank away.

  17. Who is he referring to at 8:16? What player is currently on the DRW roster who is a "ripple effect" of the Mantha trade? Thanks

  18. There is a motto in business buy low – sell high. The Wings did just the opposite with Vrana. Vzerman sent him down to get his play together, he did so and they brought him up (to sit in the pressbox). From purely a business viewpoint, bring him up and showcase him on the power play to increase his market value and then trade him this summer. We don't know if Vrana would have produced since he was not given the opportunity. It appears that Yzerman dumped him because they were worried about his influence on his teammates. I don't think they were worried about the vets. What does that say about the young players namely Raymond and Seider? Vrana if you write a book I'll read it, good luck in St Louis.
