    Here’s why that was offside.

    Downvotes on the left.

Spurgeon was in possession skating backwards but the puck did not fully enter the attacking zone when he shot it. The blue line belongs to the neutral zone in that instant and the puck never gained the attacking zone.

So a puck that belonged to the neutral zone was passed to a player that was offside.

  2. SoSneaky91

So can you or can you not skate backwards into the zone?

    fUCKK

at least freddy hockey scored, and i’d say gus did pretty damn good. that ot save is why we have a point imo.

  4. jonn_jonzz

Boldy…..dude……you could have tapped it in.

  5. I fucking hate the Flames and I hate fucking shootouts

  6. McSaxual34

Challengeable offsides is the worst thing about hockey in 2023, there I said it

  7. stumpybubba

Well that one hurts pretty fucking bad. Sure it sucks that we got ripped off in the overtime, but really we need to score when we’re putting 40 shots on net even with their goalie standing on his head.

    A point is a point I guess.

  8. Backblast

Man, Boldy still missing the net. His struggle is real.

  9. JB_Smoove25

Just one of those nights where it doesn’t go our way. Still got a point though!

  10. Bullshit offsides call. Refs made the opposite call in the last week for the exact same play.

  11. NovaWolverine

What a game, well played Wild.

    Eff the refs

  12. dodechadecha

Can’t score a damn goal, Gustavsson deserved better

  13. woodenhand

LOVE YOU GUS! YOU STILL CRUSHED IT!

    boldy tho…….

  14. Kurt4413

I want to believe there is somebody that ran out as soon as we scored and didn’t hear the call, in their car just stoked that we won.

  15. Wild_Bro_97

Somebody fucking score a goal in regulation at home. Jesus fucking Christ, how are they going to OT against Calgary?

  16. Eastern_Tangerine_33

Boldy how did you miss that open net?! GD

  17. pjokinen

Hartman gets held on the ice for 15 seconds in the offensive zone? I sleep. Guy is three inches off-side long before he shoots? REAL SHIT????

  18. BuckyCop

This is one of those made up wins that revitalizes a club like Calgary and can really mess with the mentality of the Wild. I hope they can get through this fuckery

  19. BigPackHater

Guys if it was offsides, it was offsides. The only way to prevent it is to not be offsides. The team outplayed the Flames all night and should’ve put them away in the first period. Gus deserved to win that game, and it’s embarrassing that the team couldn’t do it for him. The Flames aren’t making the playoffs, so this game doesn’t matter in the long run. But the team needs to figure scoring out. It’s seriously embarrassed how we can’t score

  20. omahawizard

Zucc and Kap also missed leave Boldy alone

  21. responsiblefornothin

So fucked that determining puck possession requires the puck to be touching the blade. Half the time you have the puck, it isn’t touching the blade thanks to this crazy thing called stick handling

  22. Trainmanwildfan

Expected goals 4.1 to 1.84 in our favor. Sucks to lose a game that way especially when we thought we won in OT

  23. Good to get a point but should’ve been the 2. Wild were all over Markstrom that 3rd period but nothing capitalized.

Gus Bus fantastic, still really liking Mojo-Ek-Boldy line. Klingberg had a little bit of a shaky game after a good debut, hopefully just a one off for him.

Boys can’t feel sorry about themselves though, got a massive game in Winnipeg tomorrow night.

  24. This is because they didn’t wear the warmup jerseys

  25. shaman0610

    Ok, silver linings.

    1. This was a tight checking game by both teams. If this is playoffs and doesn’t go to shootout, we are eventually going to win that. Our momentum kept building throughout the game. It looked very much like we wore them down.

    2. PK is amazing.

    3. Gus is so god damned smooth. His puck control is outstanding. I didn’t once see a rebound that didn’t either get eaten up or pushed hard into the corner.

    4. Our D look great. All 3 pairings held our blue line really well; tight gaps and rushes killed at zone entrance. Dumba is playing thoughtful mistake free hockey again; he lost his offensive flash but is looking far more steady defensively. Klingberg walks laterally on the offensive blueline so unbelievably well with thr puck.

    5. Johansson is a perfect fit, I’m happy he got a second chance with us. He’s so fast (I mean, I knew that, but having him healthy and controlling zone entrances makes him so much more dangerous)! It seemed like every shift he was burning D wide on zone entries and making them turn to skate forward. Thats going to result in a ton of space for Boldy coming in the slot to do something meaningful, and Ek cam cause chaos around the slot. We finally have a 2nd scoring line, even if they didn’t end up on the sheet tonight.

If we cleaned up those stupid extra drop passes and lateral dink plays from the periods 1 and 2, and got a little betterbpuck luck in the 3rd, that could have been a 4-0 kind of game.
