  1. As a Red Wings Podcast, We believe the St. Louis Blues won the trade. Vrana is an amazing player and 5on5 scorer, and we wish him nothing but best of luck in St. Louis!

Nonetheless, while the trade seems very underwhelming, it was best to get something rather than nothing and was a move best fit for the player more so than the team.

  2. Who do you think Detroit is clearing the cap space for? Also, St. Louis is getting a lot of baggage with Vrana. I wish him well, and that he gets everything sorted out. In the end though, there is a lot of drama with Vrana.

  3. Addition by subtraction moving a head case like Vrana was best for Detroit. Yes he can be productive when on the ice. The problem is when is he on the ice? Good luck to St. Louis in dealing with him.

  4. We cut our losses here and paid SL to take a chance on him. Too many issues for Vrana at the moment. Too bad it did not work out

  5. Nah Stevie did vrana so dirty, I’ve lost alot of respect for Stevie for this. Vrana deserved so much better

  6. Dude mouthed off after the Wings should have cut him, after rehab and being fully a disappointment, good riddance. We're keeping 50% of his salary and got nothing, dude sucks as a person because playing hockey he is great.

  7. Geez!
Stevie Y clearing the decks for something 🤷‍♂️
    Hronek
    Bertuzzi
    Vrana
Who’s next to go to pay for Larkin’s new contract?!?!

  8. Vrana is a very good player with obvious bad problems. Do not know what – but DRW and Stevie Y sure wanted nothing to do with it. Getting a 7th in 2025 and a below average AHL player, and absorb 1/2 salary — is absolutely – TERRIBLE! SY should have kept him thru next TDL, and hope he comes around. Then one way or another trade him for at least a third

  9. No one here knows the whole story. No one picked him up on waivers earlier, so a 7th round pick is ok. Best of luck to Vrana and hope he can get a restart in St. Louis. He has the talent.

  10. I think Yzerman did this as a gift. The Blues get to play him and then possibly eat half the remaining salary at the 2024 trade deadline. My head math isn't what it used to be but I think they can offer Vrana in 24 for 1.4375 mil or so. Could fetch a 3rd round or better for a contender. Let's face it… This is a gift. A well-deserved thank you for Walman and Sunny.

  11. So Detroit is giving St. Louis $2,625,000.00(retained salary) to take a guy that had the second highest points per minute at times and get back a 28 year old AHL'er and a 7th round pick???

  12. I think the line up that makes more sense is
    Buch-Thomas-Kyrou
    Vrana-Schenn-Kapanen
    Saad-Brown-Blais
    Toro-Alexandov-Pitlick/Leivo/Walker

  13. After screwing the Wings over for two seasons as a result of his piss-poor personal choices why would anyone wish this turd the best of luck?

  14. He should be on top line ..saad is old and always injured ..why get him and toss him on checking line…he's a scorer not a defensive player 🤯💥

  15. I’d say retooling instead of rebuilding. It’s not going to be more than 1-2 years for them to be a highly competitive team again.

  16. Wings fan. Vrana fan. Who won? We won't know till at least next year, and maybe a lot longer. All the people talking about Vrana's drug/alcohol/mental issues – that is all guessing/speculation. Or a violation of HIPAA laws. We don't know – give it a rest.

From today's viewpoint, I think everybody won. Wings got what they needed. Blues got what they needed (scoring and huge upside for acceptable risk) and Vrana got what he needed – a fresh start in a new city. He has one year to prove who he is and what he can be. I hope he scores 40 goals next year and is personally happy in his new home. I hope the Blues look back on this as one of the best trades they ever made. And even if it goes that way or better, that does NOT mean Wings made a bad trade – they got what they needed and unless Vrana contributes to St. Louis beating the Wings in the cup final, nothing great Vrana does going forward hurts the Wings. Sometimes, everybody loses. This time I think everybody wins. Perfect trade. Good luck to all.
